Possibly Yes: Out of the ssri medications, Paxil (paroxetine) seems to be the one most common to contribute to weight gain (and this is on the fda adverse reaction list for this medication. Other ssris such as Prozac and zoloft (sertraline) do not have weight gain listed by fda as possible adverse reaction. Need a different Med: Topomax will not help your body appropriately compensate for this ssri induced weight gain. Talk with your doctor about switching to a different med. I have OCD and never took meds for it. One doctor prescribed Paxil (paroxetine) and another cipralex. Which has less side effects?

About the same.: Both Paxil (paroxetine) and escitalopram ( cipralex) are ssris and both have been prescribed for ocd but the standard of treatment for ocd uses higher than usual doses used for major depression.
