Doctor prescribed clonazepam 1mg for anxiety and also told me to take 10mg of melatonin everynite before bed. Is this ok and or safe?
10 mg Melatonin?: 1mg is a commonly used dose of clonazepam, and is often given at night. I agree with dr. Ali that you might not need both at the same time. The 10mg dose of melatonin seems very high. Physiologic doses of melatonin are around .3mg -- and most adults take 1-3 mg when needed. Even rozerem, (ramelteon) a prescription melatonin receptor agonist, is dosed as 8mg. You might want to re-look at your 10mg dose. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I take 25 mg of atenolol daily. Doctor prescribed me .25mg of Klonopin (clonazepam) once a day to help with my anxiety. Is it safe to take while on atenolol?

Call her to ask!: I'm hoping she know about all the medications you take - if not - she needs to so she can give you the best and safest care. That type of security might even help your 24/7 worries. These drugs in combo can increase side effects but as long as you watch carefully and report things to her and know what to watch for, it should be ok. Consider CBT for skills to manage anxiety too! ...Read more
I've been taking 1/4 tablet b.i.d. of CLONAZEPAM for 10 straight years as ordered by my doctor for my ANXIETY DISORDER. Is it bad?
Klonopin, (clonazepam) bad?: a medication is neither "bad" nor "good". All medications have risks and benefits. Some benefits of Clonazepam include that it is long acting for a benzo, & that it is often effective in treating anxiety. Some risks include that it can be tolerance inducing (though you report never having to escalate ur dose) & it can be addictive. Talk to ur doc abt risks, benefits & side effects in ur case :) ...Read more
I'm taking 1mg clonazepam daily for anxiety. Been on it 12 days. Doctor wants me to take it for 3 months. Is this safe? Withdrawal? I am scared.
Prescribed Xanax (alprazolam) , klonopin , for anxiety.. But doctors only give 3 refills .. I need meds for anxiety how to stay prescribed ...?
Your Doc ; the DEA: In the us, xanax (alprazolam) and Klonopin are known as "controlled substances" - in this case because of concerns about their safety and potential for abuse. Doctors need to be registered with the drug enforcement administration in order to prescribe them ; because of safety/abuse concerns, the dea monitors their prescription. Aside from this, long term use of xanax (alprazolam) ; Klonopin has serious risks. ...Read more
My doctor put me on 1 mg klonopin plus 10 mg ambien for insomnia and anxiety to be taken together. I feel awful when I take together and doesn't really work that great? Wouldn't it be better to just increase the ambien and stop the klonopin ?
Bad combo: Combining these medications should be avoided, since they are both sedatives/hypnotics. Also, long-term use of amben is not recommended. It would actually be better to treat your underlying anxiety to try and resolve your sleep issues, since long-term ambien (zolpidem) use leads to rebound insomnia and addiction. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
It’s been awhile since I have been to the doctor. I used to be prescribed Klonopin for my anxiety. How do I go about getting on this again for anxiety?
Doc prescribed me klonopin (clonazepam) 1mg, once daily for anxiety. Can i cut these pills in half and try a smaller dose? I'd prefer the smallest effective dose.
You could, but: You need to ask your doctor if this is okay with him/her. Some people might use .5mg bid if needed. Also, hopefully this will be a temporary medication for you -- and you're also getting a further assessment for your anxiety? With a psychiatrist and/or psychologist or other psychotherapist? There are excellent non-drug treatments for anxiety, not usually provided by primary care. Be well. ...Read more
I am prescribed klonopin for anxiety. It is not doing anything for me. I've even up'd my dosage through a doc. Would ativan or Xanax (alprazolam) help better?
Not necessarily.: Although your dr could do a trial on a different benzodiazapine. I don't see any non-medication treatments listed - it is very important. Cognitive behavioral therapy can be quite effective. Psych meds may be indicated. Aim for daily exercise, 8 hours of sleep /night ; good nutrition w 5 servings of veggies ; 4 of fruit per day. Try tai chi, yoga, qi gong ; progressive muscle relaxation. ...Read more

I take .5 mg of klonopin a day. Doctor said to take it for maximum of a month. Also take 50mg of Zoloft (sertraline) daily for 3 months. Will this help?Anxiety
I have anxiety and im bipolar. my doctor has had me on klonopin (clonazepam) for a while. I take it only when my anxiety is really bad. is 3mg a day to much?
Doctor guidelines?: Did your doc give you guidelines about how to take it? While 3mg is not likely dangerous over a 24 hour period, if you have been using it for a while you may have built up a tolerance. If this is the case, you will eventually need more to manage your anxiety. I would speak with your doctor about the best course,of,action, with this medication. Other stress management techniques may also help. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My doc prescribed me clonazepam as well as fluoxitine for aanxiety....Is fluoxitine prescribed for anxiety generally?..Thanks
Yes, very often.: Anxiety comes in different types. The more severe ones, like panic attacks, are most helped by fluoxitine. Often anxiety can be a sign of depression, especially if it's new. In cases of severe worry about difficult life events drugs like Clonazepam are more helpful. Most importantly, tell your doctor if it helps you and if you have side effects. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Can .25MG of Klonopin (clonazepam) actually reduce my anxiety?I feel like the dose is too low. Doctor says I can take .5mg if the initial dose doesn't help
Relative dosages : The number of milligrams of a particular medication is meaningless without knowing its relative strength compared to other similar medications. In this case, 0.25 mg. of Klonopin (clonazepam) = 5 mg of Valium, 0.5 = 10 mg of Valium, which would put most people out. More importantly, are you in psychotherapy? For many types of anxiety, exposure-based therapies are extremely effective. ...Read more
My doctor prescribed Clonazepam for anxiety after I had an episode of Afib. The ER when I was being treated for Afib gave me Lorazepam. Any issue?
My doc thinks being on 100mg Zoloft (sertraline) will balance my panic disorder and anxiety with taking 1mg klonopin 2x day. I do not feel klonopin effects. Why?
Results may vary: 1 mg bid klonepin should be generally noticeable unless there is some tolerance to benzos or alcohol. Generally the zoloft (sertraline) may take a few weeks to a month to be effective, and has the advantage of fewer risks complications such as addiction and tolerance, sedation, etc. About 70% of people w/ panic disorder can be reduced or discontinued from meds w cognitive behavioral therapy. ...Read more
