Is a tooth abscess cured if it drains? Do i still need to go to my dentist? I had a small bump on my gums, and i was going to make an appointment, but this morning it burst and drained. Didn’t taste too good, but i swished some mouthwash around my mouth,

Not cured: The 'bump' on the gums is a draining abscess. The symptoms tend to diminish when the bump opens and lets the fluid (pus) drain. But, the source of the infection is still present...It must be treated to avoid a chronic abscess. ...Read more

My teeth always bleed the dentist told me to use flossing and i hate it cause it feels like I have gap in my teeth. Is there any solution for it.

My teeth always bleed the dentist told me to use flossing and i hate it cause it feels like I have gap in my teeth. Is there any solution for it.

Yes: What your dentist really wants is for you to clean interdentally. For people who don't like floss, there are many good alternatives. The bottom line is to reduce gum inflammation thru good hygiene. Reduce exposure to sugary foods. Practice good nutrition and find a good alternative to floss. Your bleeding gums will improve. If you've done all this and bleeding persists, get a thorough medical exam. ...Read more

I have a very bad cavity in my tooth and it hurts really bad. I am not able to get it fixed due to my money problems. Whatcan help me with this pain?

Sorry : Sorry to hear about your pain. However, this is not a question of money. It is a question of priorities. If you are truly in pain, you can get excellent care at a hospital based dental residency program for a nominal fee, or they will help you file for medicaid. In addition, there are community based free clinics. Search online in your area. Unfortunately you cannot treat this at home by yourself. You have to go see a dentist. Best wishes, . ...Read more

I went to the dentist for a night guard and been told i better get braces bcz my bite is deep. I don't see anything wrong with it. How is that ?

Good advice: Normal overlap between your front upper and lower teeth is generally 2-3 millimeters (or less). Your frequent headaches at age 20 may be due to a misaligned or bad bite, this greatly concerns me. The mouth guard will only help with the symptom but not fix the real problem. See an orthodontist or prosthodontist for a second opinion, but i think your dentist gave you good advice. ...Read more

I might have to have my top wisdom tooth out soon and i'm so scared! also, how easy is it to get dry socket?

I might have to have my top wisdom tooth out soon and i'm so scared! also, how easy is it to get dry socket?

Top wisdom teeth: Have to say upper wisdom teeth removal is pretty easy/routine. As your cheek will cover the extraction site, it is less likely that you will get a dry socket. Best advice is to refrain from smoking, carbonated beverages and hard physical activity for the first few days after surgery. Surely your dental surgeon will give some post-op instructions to follow. ...Read more

I have a very small space on my upper teeth My orthodentist said that i need to do a frenectomy to close it tell me please ifthis has bad consequences?

Not that invasive: A frenectomy to help close the space is not a real invasive procedure and usually heals quite well. If an oral surgeon is doing the procedure (which I would recommend,) have them explain all about the procedure and how it heals. ...Read more

Do i need to see a dentist for a possible small chip on my tooth? I think i might have just barely chipped my tooth this weekend. I can't really see much of a difference, but i still feel like i might have. Is it worth going to my dentist as a precaution?

Do i need to see a dentist for a possible small chip on my tooth? I think i might have just barely chipped my tooth this weekend. I can't really see much of a difference, but i still feel like i might have. Is it worth going to my dentist as a precaution?

A : A very small chip that is not on the edge of a filling may not need to be restored. In many instances, your dentist can just smooth it down to prevent food and bacteria from getting trapped in the rough surface. If the chip occured at a tooth-filling interface, then it should be evaluated and possibly be restored since that opening may lead to decay and a potentially larger restoration. It can't hurt to have it evaluated. ...Read more

How can I tell if a bump on my tongue is a tumor? It seems to be irritated in morning. I have a permanent retainer. I have an app not sure go sooner.

Have it examined: The chance of a serious growth on your tongue is minimal at your age. Whether or not it's normal, an inflamed papilla, a small benign growth or something else can be determined once you see a dentist to have it e-valuated. Most likely this will not even need to be biopsied but does need to be seen, especially if it’s been there more than 2 weeks. ...Read more
