My Daughter Was Told She Has Heat Rash What Does This Mean
My 2 year old grandson I was told has multiforme erythema, his mother has herpes, and just had a bad outbreak on her lip. does it mean he has herpes?
Dull eardrum: A dull eardrum usually indicates there is a little fluid in the middle ear space. It does not always mean an associated infection. Ear drum usually is like plastic wrap - you can see through it. Dull ear drum looks more like waxed paper. There may be a little transient hearing decrease when fluid present in middle ear, but usually not permanent. Needs ongoing follow-up with doc to make sure better. ...Read more

My four year old daughter just had an X-ray that says she has stable mild levoscoliosis. What does this mean. And what does it mean for her?
Consult a pediatric : Mild spinal curvature may not mean anything but without examining the x-rays it is a guess. Your best option is to consult a spinal surgeon or pediatric orthopedist to be certain that some treatment like a brace is not indicated. A follow up examination as she grows is essential. ...Read more
My child is 10yo and I noticed she has bruises on her legs.she hasn't been sick.she doesn't recall what happened.what could be going on with her?
Bruised shins?: Kids your daughter's age can be pretty "rough and tumble". Bruises especially along the shin bone are extremely common and most of the time kids I see won't recall what happened because it was so inconsequential to them. If the bruises are large, deep purple and tender to her or if they are in abnormal places then let your pediatrician take a look. May want to check clotting factors etc. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Genetics & immune: The patchy nature and distribution in vitiligo are rather distinctive.A few other skin conditions can temporarily mimic the process. My 7 week old baby has a rash that looks likes someone got a red pen and dotted her, what can this be? She also has a cold that she had for 2 weeks
Viral rash?: Many viruses (even cold viruses) can have associated rashes. However, in babies under 2 months of age i wouldn't wait a long time to find out what's going on. If she has been acting fine otherwise (eating well, not fussy or excessively sleepy), you can wait a day or two and see if it just fades away. If not, have your pediatrician look at it on monday to determine it's nothing more. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

My wife has diabetes. She is 36 and has just been told her kidneys are leaking. What does this mean?
Protein: Hi. It probably means her kidneys are leaking protein (albumin). That can happen from diabetic kidney disease, high blood pressure kidney disease, and others. But in diabetics, poor diabetes control is highly suspect. She needs to control her diabetes and blood pressure VERY tightly to arrest/reverse the process. Take this seriously. Chronic kidney disease sucks. Good luck to her! ...Read more

My daughter has severe eczema. She has it horribly on the cheeks. She does not live with me. How can I help her?
Severe Eczema: Questions: how old is your daughter? How long has she had the eczema? How can you help her of she doesn't live with you? Depending on her age, she should be seeing a pediatrician if she's young, or a dermatologist if she's an adult. There is no magic in treating eczema. First of all, no soap. She should only use cleansers like cetaphil or aveeno (oatmeal) or eucerin, wash clothing in all-free & clear. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
