I have a 2 year old and the Dr. Diagnost her with strep throat they gave her shot Tuesday how long does strep throat last. She still has pain?

Not unusual: I would run it by the doc that saw her Tuesday, because there are rare things that could be complicating her strep throat, like an abscess, but it is not all that unusual to feel crappy for 5-7 days if had a bad case of it. It is natures way of letting you know it is still fighting the infection and you need rest and nutrition. If still running a fever, definitely give doc a call back! ...Read more

It happens: Did they verify the strep with a test ? Was the shot a penicillin based drug? Even if both were done, some kids carry additional throat germs (viruses) as a co-infection and take longer to improve. As long as the kid stays well hydrated and is feeding okay, you can monitor through the weekend. Call the office on Monday if things are not improving. ...Read more
