Not this site: If you will read the site disclaimers, you will learn we don't diagnose or treat anyone from this site. That includes sending notes for special issues. My brothers son has autism, is it likely my child will be born with autism? My husband doesn't have autism in his family
Autism's origins: New studies on chromosomal material have shown a number of autism cases related to sporadic changes(micro deletions or insertions) in the genetic code that probably occurred prior to conception. Of rare families with >1 affected child, this appears to be the case. Newly affected families have little if any chance of replicating that event, or sharing it across family lines. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

My son has aspergers and has trouble reading social situations, he complains of voices, how can he succeed in school he has very high test scores?
Early intervention: The best way to proceed is to find a skilled specialist who can evaluate and refer him for appropriate services. Social skills are important to address intensively and early, i.e. with group skill training and individual therapy and coaching. Other associated symptoms may be alleviated with proper medication management as well. You should look into other resources, e.g. Autism advocacy online. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
DIET: My experience is this: empty calories induce oxidative dysfuncion in the part of the brain that generates our emotional responses. Emotions are too easily iniitiated and are severely exaggerated, even to the point of violence. I have suggested publicly that "junk" diet may even be responsible for the school shootings. I thnk that high calorie malnutrition is very dangerous. So--check his diet! ...Read more
Not having a boyfriend at 20 make you immature? My daughter has been homeschooled all through her grades except senior year where she was enroll on an online school. The school would have activities monthlyand she made many friends. My daughter also has m
Hello. : Hello. I think that the best way to know is to ask her about it. If her trauma from her abuse when she was young has caused issues or fears about intimacy that could make her reticent to connect with a man. Sometimes children who are home-schooled may lag in social skills compared with children who have have had more access to others. It may however, just be that dating is not a top priority for her right now. I don't believe that there is anything wrong by not dating by age 20; but with that said, if there are specific issues which are holding her back, it might be helpful for her to address them. Take care. ...Read more

How is it that my doctor wants my school records and old psychiatrist record of my autism disorder?
Behavior is common: Many people with dementia are confused and have trouble understanding what people say to them so this can lead to agitation or aggression with personal cares. There are behavioral interventions that can often lesson this but if there is significant aggression, medications may be needed. A geriatric psychiatrist can help you, if one is available. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Diet again: I suspect that this is high calorie malnutrition, i.e. Too many calories (particularly sweets, pop, caffeine etc) and insufficient vitamin content. It puts stress on vitamin b1 metabolism and it results in emotional irritability, often associated with violence. I have suggested that this is a major cause of the school shootings. Nobody has looked at diet mayhem and it needs doing. ...Read more

My daughter has celiac and has been very compliant until she hit teen age. Now she sneaks bread with friends! What should we do!
Celiac: Even small cheats, with true celiac disease, can put you at risk for intestinal damage and some malignancies. Teens don't want to be seen as different than their friends. I see this with teen diabetics, too. Hopefully, her GI tract will give her enough discomfort to have her stop. Continue to educate her and explain how serious it is. If you are seeing other acting out behavior, counseling helps. ...Read more
