My Child Has A Fever And No Other Symptoms
Can teething be the cause of a fever that my 15 month old son has had it for 2 days. He has no cold symptoms all he has is fever and crankiness?
My almost 6 month old has a fever of 102.3. Can he run fevers with teething? He has no other symptoms and is not fussy at all.
Due for an illness: I don't accept fever >101 as teething & am not sure it causes much stress in most infants. By 4mo the protective antibodies passed to baby during pregnancy have warn off & a kid is due for some random viral illnesses. If he is drinking well & wetting a diaper every 4-6h & playful for periods during the day, you may be able to monitor the situation at home.If he starts to act sickly, have him seen. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers

My 5 year old has a wet cough but no signs of a cold and no fever should she be seen by her doctor and over-the-counter meds have not helped?
Allergies?: If only wet cough start by addressing the possibility of allergies causing the excess phlegm. Give benadryl, (diphenhydramine) or any other allergy medicine. If not better in a few days, cough becomes worst or shortness of breath, then seek prompt medical attention. In the later scenarios it might be asthma, sinusitis or bronchitis all of which need medical evaluation. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

My girl 3 years old has a fever with no other symptoms. Only fever ,feeling fatigue & sleepy. She also refuses eating.. What's the reason?
Viral?: Your baby most likely has a viral illness that is causing some nausea so she does not eat. She may have less fatigue after her fever comes down and you can do that with Tylenol (acetaminophen). If she still continues to refuse to eat, try to give her small sips of fluids so she stays hydrated. If she gets worse or you cannot get her to take fluids, she will need to see a doctor. ...Read more

My daughter (9 yrs old) has had nausea for the past 7 days or so. She has no fever, no headaches, flu symptoms or any other symptoms. What could it be?
Many things: Anytime a child has symptoms for that long, i think getting a good history and exam is important. Not having other symptoms is good, but nausea can have many causes. It can be from infection, medication, allergy, anxiety, reflux disease, gluten/lactose issues and so on. Best to sit down and explore thoroughly with a provider you trust. ...Read more

My 2 yr old has a cold with cough, but no fever. How likely is it that he has bronchitis or pneumonia with no fever? A play mate of his has pneumonia.
Likly virus: Many more children have virus infections with cough than develop pneumonia from bacteria germs. Most of the time, bacterial pneumonia has at least some fever with it. Most of the time, bronchitis just means a wet junky-sounding cough. Call your doctor if fever over 100.5 comes up or if the illness lasts 5-7 days. The playmate could have a virus pneumonia that might be just a cold in your child. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
