A : A concussion is simply traumatic brain injury as the result to a direct or indirect blow to the head. A ct can rule out fracture or bleeding but cannot diagnose a concussion. A contussion is merely the outer swelling/bruising of the skin and head. Symptoms of concussion include: altered level of consciousness, headache, nasea/vomiting, etc. At this point in time the most important things to rule out are bleed/fracture which the ct did. Head Injuries: If she is vomiting she needs to be seen urgently. If she is not vomiting she needs close attention for 24 hours. If she falls asleep this is fine, but is she easily aroused from sleep? I would have you check that every couple of hours during her sleep to make sure she can be aroused. After 24 hours the risks nearly all go away. ...Read more

Head injury: If no loss of conciousness, laceration of the scalp and normally oriented after being consoled , there is no special treatment needed. He can be allowed to eat and nap normally. If he naps longer than normal, awaken him gently and observe for normal interaction. Danger signs would include repetitive vomiting, decreased level of conciousness and dramatic soft swelling at the point of impact. ...Read more
