My Child Cold Goes Away And Comes Back
Depends: If a child has a fever, they should be home 24 hours untreated with no fever before going back to school! otherwise, if they are acting normally, eating fairly well, and sleeping at night and are pretty good with using their "secret space, " the inside of the elbow for coughing or sneezing into, and hand washing then they should be ok to be at school, i doubt they were the first case anyway. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My child comes back from her dad's with cold like symptoms. I just found out she could have been exposed to meth. How will I know for sure?
Symptoms: You can get her tested but then if she does not show any sign of anxiety, hyperactivity, tremor, fast speech etc, why bother unless you want proof for a custody issue. You should be concerned over the safety of your child when in her father's care. Perhaps asking the court to get the dad tested for drug may be a better solution. You may check with your city's child care service re. options. ...Read more
Everytime my child gets a cold she gets red very itcy (almost mosquito bite type) spots on her lower back and legs. what could it be?
Perhaps these are: not colds but actually allergic reactions. Then, these may be hives (the itchy rash) and the congestion/cough may be part of that allergy. Benadryl (diphenhydramine) may help for both, but please speak with her pediatrician to better diagnose and treat this problem. If you are a Prime member, you also could consult one us through there. ...Read more

My 3 mth old baby was now getting over the cold but then my sister accidentally coughed on him..will this make the virus come back strong like before?
Not necessarily...: If it is the same virus most likely not. However, if it is a different type of virus or bacteria it might but we cannot predict how severe it will be. It all depends what type of infectious organism(germ) is it and how your baby's immune system fights the infection back. If he gets sick again have his doctor take a look at him. ...Read more
I've been sick back to back with cough/cold since getting pregnant. I'm 6 weeks along. Better for baby to try to ride it out or take medicine?
See doctor: First make sure that your problem is merely a cold and not from something else like asthma or sinusitis. In the 1st trimester of pregnancy, it is best to avoid taking any drug whenever possible but you should not avoid treatment which is necessary. In the meanwhile, try tea with honey to see if it helps your cough. ...Read more

Improving...: Although you stated that the cough was viral, it seems the baby was treated with antibiotics? Either way, you mention that the baby is recovering --- so I gather that means improving. Cough can linger for a few weeks - con't with supportive care - saline drops, humidifier. It isn't surprising if mom caught the cold - symptomatic care for her and seek medical care if either mom/baby worsen. ...Read more

Cold related color?: Usually quick changes in skin color can be related to blood vessels. In this case, if blood vessels get small to conserve heat, color will turn more white. If they stay that way, you may see blue. When the vessels get bigger again, you may see flushing, or pink to red. Some people have more reactive vessels than others, and some can experience pain/tingling with this, such as with reynaud's. ...Read more
I am preagnent with my 3 child comfirmed by drocor. But why is it when i take a preagnency test its always comes back negatived? Should i be worried?
Exercise a cold?: There is a very simple rule. If your symptoms are above the neck, do anything you want. If your symptoms are also below the neck -- fever, muscle aches, fatigue, for example -- you should avoid exertion. Sitting in warm water is not a problem with a cold, but anything that makes you shiver will just make it harder to fight off your illness. A chest cold is just a cold with post nasal drip. ...Read more
