My chest feels like my food is stuck and I keep burping and spitting up flem what could be my problem?

Dysphagia?: Narrowing of the esophagus due to inflammation, scarring or tumor can cause food to get stuck. Not rare with chronic reflux/heartburn symptoms-typically solids. Tight lower esoph sphincter can cause as well.
Abnormalities in muscles/nerves/coordination of swallow cause problems with solids and liquids.
See a GI doc. Tests include xray swallow, endoscopy, muscle test (manometry). Rx: help or cure. ...Read more

My three month baby he chest cold since a month now it rattles on his chest when he breaths CAn u tell me what to do also he spits up when he burps i?

See a physician: Hello. I would recommend that your baby be seen by a medical provider to make sure that the "cold" hasn't settled into his chest, creating something like pneumonia. Babies don't have the ability to clear their mucus like you and I do, so it's important to have him examined. Also, throwing up can be a sign that it has settled in his chest, too. ...Read more

Burped and it's burned. Spit out blood streaked spit for 10 minutes afterwards. Chest pain. Is this GI or lung related? Could it be blood clot in lung?

Probably GI: Given that it began after a burp and burning. Burping may be associated reflux of stomach acid up into the esophagus, causing burning due to the irritation of the delicate lining of the esophagus. This irritation & resulting inflammation can result in bleeding. GI bleeds can be very serious and even life threatening. A blood clot in lung usually causes rapid heart rate and shortness of breath. ...Read more

How do u get a 1-year old with a bad chest cold to spit out the flem vs swallowing it again?

Don't bother...: Swallowing mucus is safe. It is difficult for a budding 'early toddler' to have maturity & skills to spit out phlegm. Don't sweat, mucus mixes with the contents of his/her stomach & passes through the digestive system. Some of it is digested and taken up into the body while some of it passes through to be eliminated from the body with stool. ...Read more

Is it normal to have phlegm in your chest after a cold or a flu? Mine sometimes makes me spit it out. And sometimes feel can't take deep breath

PRODUCTIVE COUGH: Yes it is normal. Upper respiratory infections produce inflammation of the breathing passages making it difficult for the lungs to clear mucus. The body's response is to cough in an attempt to get rid of the phlegm. Keep hydrated and monitor your symptoms. If they do not improve in the next few days, touch base with your doctor for further advice. ...Read more

May need evaluation: This may be related to nose bleed going down to your lungs. The most common cause of bleeding from lungs is a coughing spell which can break small blood vessels in the bronchial tubes. If the chest hurts it may suggest bronchitis, angina, chest wall pain, and musculoskeletal pain. Is it tender to touch. Good to know that you do not smoke. Further evaluation is necessary if symptoms persists. ...Read more

I feel airy/spaced out, my chest feels like air bubbles that make me burp. Slight nausea then goes away. Pressure in chest up my neck in my face help?

# possibilities.: The airy and spaced out feeling is concerning. The possibilities would includema drug effect, or something that is causing changes in your brain. Pressure in your chest and some nausea could be symptoms of a heart problem. The air bubble sensation may mean some acid is being refluxed from your stomachs to your esophagus. What's the signs of esophageal cancer and lung cancer. What's the chances I may have it. Main probs r spitting up little blood and constant burping?

GI symptoms: How much a "little blood" actually is depends on many things. Simple tests can detect larger blood loss, usually not the case in the youngster. The source of the blood in a young patient is important. Is it teeth, gums, sinuses, or is it further down the line, like esophagus or stomach? A good exam and a stool blood exam is also in order. ...Read more

GI symptoms: Sounds like you could have reflux and you are feeling and tasting the stomach acid as it splashed out of the stomach and onto the esophagus. You could try to take over the counter medications like Pepcid (famotidine) when it happens. You could also try something like Prilosec but would discuss this with a doctor before starting the medication long term. Also, stop eating 2 hours before bed. Good luck! ...Read more

I've been coughing on and off phlegm for over a month, it's clear but the weird thing my chest feels like air pockets are in there. What could this b?

Clarify...: Do you mean you can feel air pockets under your skin on your chest? Does the skin on your chest feel kind of like bubble wrap that you can pop? If so, you need to go to the ER for evaluation ASAP! If this description is right, that is called subcutaneous emphysema and the cause of this needs to be diagnosed. For example, you may have blebs in the lungs which burst with coughing. Good luck!! ...Read more

URI: Most likely you have a viral upper respiratory tract infection with head cold and mild bronchitis. Treatment at this time consists of rest, drinking adequate liquids, decongestant like Sudafed. Symptoms should gradually improve and clear over several days. If you develop fever, wheezing, chest pain on breathing in, copious discolored sputum or in general feel worse, see your physician. ...Read more

Trouble swallowing, weird gurgling in lower throat/chest, feels like something moving in my throat, hurts when I swallow, coughing up lots of phlegm?

Swallowing trouble?: Swallowing trouble can reflect problems when moving food from mouth to upper esophagus (tranfer dysphagia) or when moving food down the esophagus (transit dysphagia). Partial obstruction of esophagus may "hang-up" dry solid foods but typically allow liquids to pass. Motility disorders may "hang-up" both solids and liquids. Consider gerd, spasm, as well as eosinophilic esophagitis here. ...Read more

I'm male 24 yo over the last month I have a fishy taste in my mouth when I burp but I do not eat fish, my stool has become very dark and blood in flem?

You need to see: Your doctor to send you to the proper channel. The fact that you have a black stool, mean there is blood above the large intestine, but the fact that you burp it could be from the stomach or upper small intestine, and the fact that you see in your phlegm means it could even be higher. So see your doctor first for initial work up and then to the proper specialist. ...Read more

I have excessive phlegm caused by LPR. this causes me to swallow often, Which results in air getting trapped in my GI. its very hard to belch And it causes pressure and pain in my throat and chest. Why is belching so difficult for me?

LPR: Unfortunately laryngopharyngoreflux is not often successfully treated, but a trial of the usual antireflux medications is worthwhile. Forcing yourself to belch only leads to more air swallowing. Instead try drinking hot(not too hot) water to break down the gas bubbles so that they pass down the intestinal tract. ...Read more

Last night lwhen sleeping l had pain behind my left breast, when l went to get up l burped and had a sour taste in my mouth. Is this acid?

Phlegm in throat: Phlegm in the throat associated with throat clearing and heartburn symptoms sounds like acid reflux. Generally treatment would start out with acid avoidance (citrus, tomatoes, peppermint, coffee, peppermint, etc) Acid irritating the throat frequently results in increased mucous and prompts throat clearing.
