My Chest Burns
Possible Reflux: Sounds like a possible case of gastric reflux. However, if the symptom is particularly bothersome and it's the first experience you're having with it then, you should go to your doctor and have a good physical done to make sure you don't need to see a specialist or do some other tests. Every time I eat, my chest burns and it feels like the food just sits there and is waiting to come back up. What are these symptoms of? Thanks.
GERD: Maybe describing gastroesophageal reflux (gerd)--regardless of whether caused by delay in stomach emptying, relaxation of lower esophageal sphincter, partial gastric outlet blockage, biliary/pancreatic pathology, esophageal dysmotility, altered salivary flow, etc. Your response to behavior/diet modification (fats, caffeine, chocolate, etc.) and an acid-reducer (like Prilosec otc) may be helpful. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My chest burns for a little bit goes away and comes back. No other symptoms burns when i drink or eat also could this be heart?
I picked up a virus or something, and have a dry cough, but when i cough my chest burns. Never had this issue before. Suggestions?
Everytime i eat my chest burns or drink. Most f the time it burns all the time. Can this be due to my heart? been like this for a few weeks
Possible heartburn : Likely you are experiencing acid reflux, which is caused by acid flowing back up the food pipe. Though it is referred to as heartburn, it is not actually related to your heart. Treatment options include immediate relief( pepto bismol, tums, etc), medications like Zantac and longer acting, more definitive treatments called PPI( for example, omeprazole). Lifestyle changes like adjusting bed and diet ...Read more
Increased stress: During the course of a day, you build up stress from school, work, family and social obligations, etc. By the end of the day, when you go to sleep, all that srtess comes to a head. So, when you go to sleep or begin to dream, a panic attack strikes. How much is a " a lot of water"? Too much water can pose serious health hazards. I hope you're seeing a qualified doctor for the panic attacks. ...Read more
I drank two energy drinks and ate lots of chocolate + candy. Now my chest burns really badly and my stomach is turning! what is going on?
Could be caffeine OD: some energy drinks have relatively modest amounts of caffeine, and some have quite a bit. Chocolate also has caffeine in it, and I don't know what kind of candy you are talking about. I would cut way back on your caffeine intake, and if these symptoms are still bothering you, see your doctor or go to an urgent care center to have your pulse and blood pressure checked etc. ...Read more
I've had mild congestion and lately shortness of breath chest tightness. Today when i cough my chest burns. No fevers or any other symptoms.
I've got this pounding pain on right back of head and when I cough my chest burns. No mucus but stuffy nose. What could this be?
Need to see doctor: to correlate your symptoms along with your anxiety profile. Stress can make many things seem like they're happening together as one problem. An in-person doctor visit is best to nail down the diagnosis, and do possible blood work or labs after the physical exam. Best to have an accurate diagnosis with your medical history. Can be allergy, sinuses, post nasal drip, bronchitis or none of these. ...Read more
When i sneeze my chest burns really bad. I've also been sick w/ a fever and body ache mainly in my legs but my chest hurts the worst! what can it be?
Doctor gave me azithromycin for chest infection, now my chest burns and I have a cough does that means it's healing me?!
Chest infection: The term "chest infection" has little medical meaning because it does not characterize the area of the chest involved. If this is pneumonia (infection of lung tissue) and you are having "burning" and a cough would strongly suggest you go back and be re-examined and be sure that you are not becoming worse. And stop smoking. ...Read more

Took 15 mci of rai on Monday. My urine smells bad and my chest burns. Is this from the treatment or something else?
RAI: I have not previously heard of this in my patients. Nonetheless I would call the team that gave you the RAI and let then know. They may call you back or recommend you see your doctor. I strongly suspect that the RAI folks would be concerned and interested to find out what is wrong. Please let me know if you can. ...Read more

Acid reflux: When we cough, we rapidly change the pressure in the chest area. The negative pressure created coughing can lead to some of the acids in the stomach being pulled up into the esophagus and the back of the throat. This can cause the burning you are experiencing. Additionally, this may indicate that there is a weak muscle separating the stomach from the esophagus. See your doctor for evaluation. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
On Ranatadine & gaviscon for gastritis. Im getting no relief my chest aches/burns all day, even wakes me up. Can't take omeprazol. What's a good pain relief option? I've changed my diet, risen my bed, I don't drink or smoke. Or eat 3hrs before bed.
I have a few: thoughts, but you will need to continue to work closely with your gastroenterologist. Sometimes a different (from omeprazol) PPI may be effective, i.e pantoprazole or esomeprazole. Maximal doses of the H2 blocker (ranitidine) and PPI if tolerated (twice daily). Try sulcrafate. Baclofen can reduce the rate of sphincter relaxation; pain modulator such as trazodone; surgery as last resort. ...Read more
