More to it: Give it a little more time and see if the side effects diminish. If not, talk to your doc about trying a different med. However, understand that medication alone is not optimal treatment for depression (if that is what you are treating). For most depressed patients, the benefits of meds are indistinguishable from placebo. Good treatment for depression is psychotherapy (with or without meds). ...Read more

Twitches: Muscle twitches are often present in ALS, but there are many causes of muscle twitching that are not ALS. For many people, such a symptom is entirely benign. Twitching and muscle and joint pain. Been twitching for 15 months first calf and now bodywide. Pain in arms and shoulder. Can it be ALS after 15months?
Here we go again: Pain is a minor symptom of ALS, and joint pain is never a symptom. The cardinal symptom of ALS is weakness. No weakness, no ALS. I have motor tics and I also have a dull pain in my arms and shoulders. My tics involve me tightening my muscles. Is my pain related to the tics?
It is possible: Spasticity is different than spasms, sounds like you are suffering from spasticity. My first choice of muscle relaxer would be one that works on the CNS. Baclofen, Gabapentin or riluzole. Valium is a possibility ; too many side effects. You really should be evaluated by a neurologist she can determine the best treatment for your tics. Meds not always the answer. Diet, exercise, sleep qualit ...Read more

Not normal for sure.: I'll start by saying that the symptoms you describe are NOT normal ever, whether you're taking gabapentin or not.
