Liklihood of brain eating amoeba? Picked my nose in shower, finger was wet. Terrified of brain eating amoeba. Sinuses feel very dry and open. Worried!

Highly unlikely: Although there was a case of a women getting amoebic infection in the brain attributed to irrigating the sinuses with non-sterile water, there has been no other case I am aware of. Thus your getting amoeba invading your brain is highly unlikely. May try some nasal saline or gel to moisturize your nose. ...Read more

Not likely.: Medications like escitalopram, a cousin to citalopram (Celexa) can cause weird symptoms both when you start it & when you d/c it. Your symptoms are particularly unusual but, if they were caused by this med, they will go away. However, please contact your doctor. Can it spread to the brain? Not likely, but no reason to wait. C yur dent ...Read more

Is smelling smoke a symptom of a brain tumor a myth? Had CT scan 2 years ago for phantom smells. Everything normal. Now constant smell of smoke x2 days. Dry sinuses? No other neuro symptoms.

See your PCP: Myth, or no myth, it warrants further investigation. Smelling unusual smells that aren't present like smoke is not normal. So the first person to start a dialogue with is your pcp. S/he will be able to advise you further, and provide a referral to see a neurologist, if that's needed. Right now it needs to be documented, especially if you're smelling it full-time. ...Read more

I don't mind my scalp anymore. But when I picked a dry flakes at back of my head I feel irritated after, and some parts are itching. Why?

See below: Most often a skin condition like eczema, psoriasis or dandruff causes irritation and scratching. It's the scratching itself that causes scabs to form and break off. These areas can be painful to touch. Have your scalp examined because skin cancer and certain infections can also cause these symptoms. Emotional disorders can cause compulsive scalp picking.>http://bit. Ly/1BDp67O. http://bit. Ly/1hKZ4wy ...Read more
