I have some symptoms of the flu, but not all. Symptoms started when I moved residences? I'm concerned that it may be a reaction? I moved into a new house three days ago. Ever since, I've had body aches, headaches, and dizziness. I also had a mild fever th
Any gas appliances?:
It could be the flu or many other kinds of infection however since the symptoms began right after moving to a new house the possiblity of carbon monoxide poisoning should be considered.
Do you get better when you leave the house? Does anyone else in the house feels sick also? Does the house have gas heat or other appliances?
If this is possible you should leave and get checked right away. ...Read more
I think I've had a relapse of the flu--body aches, fever (I didn't have a fever two weeks ago when I was sick), cough, etc. Should I see a doctor?
Never hurts: It sounds like you may have been infected with a new pathogen or some sort of secondary infection. It's always good to have your doctor evaluate exactly what might be going on before something minor has a chance to get worse. Usually we can help alleviate the symptoms a bit to make it more bearable. Hope you feel better & good luck! ...Read more
I feel run down like I am sick with the flu nauseaous, dizziness and body aches but no headache yet could this be a shunt problem or just the flu?
Hi I I was justvl wonderingi have been sneezing and my whole body aches and I feel neauseated is it the start of a cold or the flu.
Yes to both.: It very well could be a virus. Influenza, or the flu, is a common virus that can cause these symptoms, and we are still in season for this virus to be going around. It also could be another virus as well. Get plenty of rest and drink fluids to keep hydrated. Tylenol (acetaminophen) or Ibuprofen can help reduce the fever. If it is not getting better within a few days, seek medical attention. ...Read more
Analgesics: Tylenol, (acetaminophen) Ibuprofen help with body aches (myalgias), but incompletely effective. If <48hrs, dr. Might give tamiflu. Try a warm bath, vaporizer, lots of fluids, throat lozenges. Influenza is a miserable illness. If you haven't been vaccinated, i'd advise you to get it. There are 3 strains of influenza-so, you could theroretically get influenza 2 more times this season. Ugh! ...Read more
I just got over the flu, and all the symptoms of the flu went away, but now I am having body aches. What could it be?
Body aches: There are different strains of flu (a, b, etc). If you're exposed to many people who travel a lot, you might contract flu again. Or, there are several illnesses that have flu-like symptoms, including body aches: infectious mononucleosis (ebv); cmv. Some pneumonias (legionnaire's) can present with body aches. See your fp/pcp for evaluation & treatment. Get flu vaccine this fall (unless allergic). ...Read more
Tylenonl or NSAID's: If you have the flu hydrate well w water, herbal teas, soup or juice. Drink sufficiently to have pale to light yellow urine. You can use pain relievers like tylenol (acetaminophen) or nsaid’s. Rest a lot! In some situations antiviral medications (tamiflu, relenza, flumadine) may be prescribed within the first couple of days of symptoms to hasten healing or they can be used after flu exposure to prevent illness. ...Read more
I have cold like symptoms and I feel nauseous and have a slight fever and have body aches. Could it be the flu?
Possible: It is flu season, and your symptoms are consistent. Even if it is, don't worry. The flu is usually not dangerous unless you are an infant or someone over 90. There is no treatment, and no cure. Just rest and drink lots of fluids, and you should recover just fine. Hope this helps! ...Read more
Sounds viral: Very well may be a viral process, so try to stay well hydrated and get rest. If progressive, call your md. ...Read more
How long does it take for the flu to not be contagious? Taking tamiflu since Thurs. Still have headaches and body aches. Am I still contagious?
Maybe contagious: Nobody really knows when one person stops being contagious with influenza (with or without Tamiflu treatment). One week out from the start of the illness (one can count from the first day of fever, aches, or cough) is safe, unless a person had a more severe illness or still has a lot of cough. In a more severe case, one can wait longer, such as until 3 days after no fever nor excessive cough. ...Read more
Not usually: If this does not have at every period, then it would not be prudent to blame it on the period. If the symptoms do not subside in a couple of days, you may wish to see your doctor. ...Read more
My husband has had a fever for the last couple of days (100.2 - 100.5), he has had body aches and does not feel hungry...would this be the flu?
? flu: It is certainly a possiblity given his symptoms. I have data from the US that shows flu activity but at low levels for this timeframe. Unfortunately a lot of other viruses are circulating as well. He could be tested but the treatment at this point would be symptom relief only. Good luck ...Read more
I have body aches (like the start of the flu) constantly. I exercise, and eat healthy on a daily basis. All of my test results have come back normal?
I commend you for exercise, and eating healthy.
Thank you for informing about dizziness, vomiting, and use of Aspirin and Dramamine (dimenhydrinate).
It is likely that body aches are due to flu or stress; dizziness due to Aspirin, Dramamine (dimenhydrinate) or stress; and vomiting due to Aspirin.
See Psychiatrist for therapy for stress- marriage, parenting, work and finances; discuss stopping Aspirin and Dramamine (dimenhydrinate). ...Read more
Probable influenza: Yes, this certainly could be the 'flu' because u may have 'muted' your fever with over the counter 'cold' medicines that contain tylenol (acetaminophen) or aspirin/NSAIDs like motrin. It's flu season now in the Northern hemisphere and we doctors like to say "common things are common". So I would start with a flu swab-which should tell u very quickly if u have the flu, then give u antivirals to help. Call ur doc! ...Read more
Possible, unlikely: It is unusual to have influenza without cough and often other respiratory symptoms, e.g. sore throat. It could happen, but any number of other medical conditions probably are more likely. Such symptoms can be very serious: check with a doctor ASAP, especially if fever is high or chills continue. Good luck! ...Read more

My body aches so bad and I have fever 100.1 can you still get the flu after you got the shot few week ago? If it's bladder infection can u have pain
Yes: The flu vaccine is not 100% effective but does usually make the flu milder even when it doesn't entirely prevent it. A urinary tract infection can also cause fever and pain. In either case you should see your doctor or urgent care for testing since both can and should be treated early rather than later. Hope you feel better soon ...Read more
Is it a cause of concern when you get over the flu and then have similar symptoms 9 days later? Symptoms: fatigue, chills, hot flashes, and body aches
Flu: You have to differentiate between 2 things that may happen after flu: one is bacterial infection (staph pneumonia) which usually presents with high grade fever, chills, cough w\o chest pain. The other thing is the post viral syndrome which usually a continuation of the flu symptoms but get milder with time. ...Read more

I went to a clinic with body aches. I had a 101.3 fever and they told me I had the flu. I had a very uncomfortable night and woke up with a rash.?
Not sure what your: Question is. If your rash is purple/bruised-looking, and doesn't "blanch, " ie turn white-ish or lose color when pressed, or if it blisters or develops any black areas, go back to ER *immediately.* Other reasons to go back: vomiting up fluids/meds, fever remains over 101.4 (F)/38 (C), stiff & painful neck, headache, rapid pulse >100bpm, chills w/ temp >96 (F)/35.5 (C), or any other worrisome symptoms. ...Read more
