My Bmi Is Underweight
How can I gain weight? I've ate a lot of food everyday, almost more than 3 meals a day. But my BMI says I'm still underweight..
Body mass index (BMI) is a measurement based on a person's height and weight, to decide if a person is too heavy or too light for his height. The index is a number that can be in the underweight range, normal range, overweight range, or obese range. Children use different number ranges than adults do, ...Read more
I'm 10 weeks pregnant and gained a significant amount of weight in my first trimester. However, my BMI was underweight (110lb at 5.7ft) before conceiving. Now my BMI is "normal". Does being underweight before make my extra weight gain ok?
Pregnant weight: Absolutely. Those with a pre-pregnancy BMI under 18.5 should gain 28–40 pounds. Normal-weight women (BMI, 18.5–24.9) should aim for 25–35. Overweight women (BMI, 25–29.9) should aim for 15–25. Obese women (BMI, 30 or more) should gain only 11–20. Govern a starting BMI of 17.2 I would expect you to gain 40 pounds.See 1 more doctor answer
Two issues: Bmi is an estimate dependent on a fudge factor that assumes bone structure & muscle mass are consistent along all body types. It can be off some. To verify bmi assessment, plotting height & weight along standardized growth charts (cdc or who) gives a better graphic representation of proper weight for height. If you are underweight by both systems, your brain may be giving you a distorted self image.See 1 more doctor answer
You're not a number: The BMI was never intended for use by individuals. If you feel well, are athletic, & keep up with peers at fitness activities, you have no reason to change. Elite track athletes have BMI's like yours. And don't try to gain by eating to gain fat -- a man needs no body fat and a woman needs only a little. Exercise regularly, handle any health issues with your physician's help & weight self-solves.See 1 more doctor answer
Hi doctor I am male of 23 years age my BMI shows that I m underweight I dontget healthy whenever I started to gain weight suddenly again I become thin?
Not clear: Uncertain I am clear about your position. Inability to gain weight can be genetics or due to your health status. You may have a condition that accelerates weight loss - such as an over active thyroid or a condition that does not absorb food, what we call malabsorption. You physician can clarify this.See 1 more doctor answer
I'm underweight my bmi: 16, tried everything but cant gain kgs, don't hve any disease, can you tell me hw to gain weight?
Can be hard: To gain weight, just like for more individuals the opposite is true in regards to weight loss. Assuming your doctor has ruled any disease like thyroid or malabsorption issues, it will come down to a balancing act of consuming more calories than your burn (need more in than "out"). This can require strict monitoring of the caloric content of your food and activity levels.See 1 more doctor answer
Talk to MD: Your pediatrician is the best one to answer this question for the simple reason that they have been tracking your child for a while. The child should remain fairly stable on the growth chart. All children vary in shape and size, some of it is from genetics and some of it is from nutrition. Talk to your md.See 1 more doctor answer
Slowly gain: Eat a health diet with some increased carbohydrates. Be sure to eat balanced meals and stay healthy with exercise as well, so you do not get fat, yet your weight slowly rises to a weight you are comfortable with. It is best to discuss with your dr. And parents, so the dr. Can provide support and diet advice and your parents can help as well. Best wishes.See 1 more doctor answer

My BMI is no correct. I am highly underweight. Now I am 22 and my weight is around 52 kgs. So kindly suggest me some tips for increasing my weight.?
How do you feel: Not knowing your height, it is hard to advise you. But if you are feeling tired and run down, it may be nutritional. If you have lost weight with out trying you may have a medical condition which is hidden. Start learning about how many calories are in your food. See your doc if things aren't adding up.
