How tall are you,: How much to you weight, what is your age and gender? If you are otherwise healthy, do not worry about low bmi. In a few years you will gain weight without trying and then will look back at this period fondly.

Every week I get fever and now cold. I'm very thin my BMI is underweight.

Your immunity: Is in poor shape and might be a reflection of your diet, especially all the sweet "junk", caffeine, diet drinks etc. Try looking at this and get a good multivitamin.

I'm 10 weeks pregnant and gained a significant amount of weight in my first trimester. However, my BMI was underweight (110lb at 5.7ft) before conceiving. Now my BMI is "normal". Does being underweight before make my extra weight gain ok?

Pregnant weight: Absolutely. Those with a pre-pregnancy BMI under 18.5 should gain 28–40 pounds. Normal-weight women (BMI, 18.5–24.9) should aim for 25–35. Overweight women (BMI, 25–29.9) should aim for 15–25. Obese women (BMI, 30 or more) should gain only 11–20. Govern a starting BMI of 17.2 I would expect you to gain 40 pounds.

Why might I look fat if my BMI says I'm underweight?

Why might I look fat if my BMI says I'm underweight?

Two issues: Bmi is an estimate dependent on a fudge factor that assumes bone structure & muscle mass are consistent along all body types. It can be off some. To verify bmi assessment, plotting height & weight along standardized growth charts (cdc or who) gives a better graphic representation of proper weight for height. If you are underweight by both systems, your brain may be giving you a distorted self image.

I eat a lot but I don't gain any weight, my BMI tells me im underweight, what can I do to gain weight and look healthy?

BMI: I would have your pediatrician share your height and weight charts. If they are both below the normal ranges you need to see a Pediatric Endocrinologist. If they are both normal - relax. If one is OK but the other is not you need the pediatric endocrinologist.

My BMI indicates that I am underweight (bmi is 18.02) should I gain weight?

My BMI indicates that I am underweight (bmi is 18.02) should I gain weight?

You're not a number: The BMI was never intended for use by individuals. If you feel well, are athletic, & keep up with peers at fitness activities, you have no reason to change. Elite track athletes have BMI's like yours. And don't try to gain by eating to gain fat -- a man needs no body fat and a woman needs only a little. Exercise regularly, handle any health issues with your physician's help & weight self-solves.

Hi doctor I am male of 23 years age my BMI shows that I m underweight I dontget healthy whenever I started to gain weight suddenly again I become thin?

Not clear: Uncertain I am clear about your position. Inability to gain weight can be genetics or due to your health status. You may have a condition that accelerates weight loss - such as an over active thyroid or a condition that does not absorb food, what we call malabsorption. You physician can clarify this.

I'm underweight my bmi: 16, tried everything but cant gain kgs, don't hve any disease, can you tell me hw to gain weight?

Can be hard: To gain weight, just like for more individuals the opposite is true in regards to weight loss. Assuming your doctor has ruled any disease like thyroid or malabsorption issues, it will come down to a balancing act of consuming more calories than your burn (need more in than "out"). This can require strict monitoring of the caloric content of your food and activity levels.

What is defined as an underweight BMI for kids?

What is defined as an underweight BMI for kids?

Talk to MD: Your pediatrician is the best one to answer this question for the simple reason that they have been tracking your child for a while. The child should remain fairly stable on the growth chart. All children vary in shape and size, some of it is from genetics and some of it is from nutrition. Talk to your md.

I'm underweight, my BMI is 18.6, what shall I do?

Slowly gain: Eat a health diet with some increased carbohydrates. Be sure to eat balanced meals and stay healthy with exercise as well, so you do not get fat, yet your weight slowly rises to a weight you are comfortable with. It is best to discuss with your dr. And parents, so the dr. Can provide support and diet advice and your parents can help as well. Best wishes.

Hoping you can tell me, is BMI of 15.9 too underweight?

If your BMI is: 15.9 and you're a female who is about 5 feet tall, your weight would have to be about 80 pounds -- which would be considered very, very thin and probably unhealthy. Are we talking about someone with an eating disorder who needs psychiatric help?

How do you feel: Not knowing your height, it is hard to advise you. But if you are feeling tired and run down, it may be nutritional. If you have lost weight with out trying you may have a medical condition which is hidden. Start learning about how many calories are in your food. See your doc if things aren't adding up.
