A disc: There are a couple of reasons why this could be happening. The symptoms you describe are typical for discogenic pain (pain originating from a disc). Try this...: Does the pain stay in 1 place, or does or move down to 1 foot? If to the foot, then possible nerve pain, but I doubt you have that. Did you have an injury? If so, that should heal with warm heat, light activity & OTC pain med (like ibuprofen or acetaminophen). Are you a serious couch potato? Other possibilities include facet joint arthritis, the beginning of spinal stenosis or arthritis due to other causes.
