A disc: There are a couple of reasons why this could be happening. The symptoms you describe are typical for discogenic pain (pain originating from a disc). Try this...: Does the pain stay in 1 place, or does or move down to 1 foot? If to the foot, then possible nerve pain, but I doubt you have that. Did you have an injury? If so, that should heal with warm heat, light activity & OTC pain med (like ibuprofen or acetaminophen). Are you a serious couch potato? Different causes: If the pain doesn't go down your legs then it is unlikely to be a disc related problem. Other possibilities include facet joint arthritis, the beginning of spinal stenosis or arthritis due to other causes. If the pain gets worse, is associated with fever or chills, vision changes you need some intensive testing.
