I have a 6 month old baby boy he has a very hot head at times and sweats a lot. Is it normal to have a very hot head?

Probably ok: This is probably ok. It is summertime and hot in most areas of the US now. Be sure and dress him lightly, just a onsie. Check for temperature with a rectal thermometer, if it is over 99.4 undress him completely and recheck it. Sometimes babies just get a bit warm. Anything above 100.4 and you need to let your pediatrician know. ...Read more

Check: Check his temperature in his bottom. If this is normal, make sure his environment is cool. Babies generally sweat to remove excess heat from their bodies. All the best. ...Read more

My 6 month old son's head sweats a lot when he sleeps and its been like that for months now. What could that be about?

My 6 month old son's head sweats a lot when he sleeps and its been like that for months now. What could that be about?

Many possiblities: Make sure the room isn't too warm. Make sure he isn't over dressed. Or, he might just be someone who sweats easily. In any case, if he's comfortable, eating and growing well, and he wakes up rested, he's probably ok. If he's cranky, not eating or growing well, or in any other way unwell, see your pediatrician. ...Read more

My 3yr old son had a PDA a closure and has a diagnosed coronary fisula which is being monitored. His head sweats a lot when sleeping. How can I help?

See below: There are lots of causes for sweating and cardiac disease is one cause. However the lesions you mention should not be causing this. I would make sure no obvious causes like room to warm, over dressed or too many blankets. If not the case you should discuss with the pediatrician to address other causes for the sweating. ...Read more

My 1yr old sweats a lot in her sleep (mainly her head). Should i be concerned?

Yes: It is typical of an imbalance in the autonomic (automatic) nervous system. By far the commonest cause is the nature of diet, particularly sugar in all its different forms. Sweating like this is typical of dysautonomia. Go to my blog entitled "oxygen, the spark of life" it explains why dysautonomia is so common. ...Read more

Hyperhidrosis: He may have primary hyperhidrosis (cause unknown and more common) or secondary hyperhidrosis (due to underlying medical condition such as thyroid or endocrine problem). Primary hyperhidrosis is treated with topicals (ie: aluminum chloride or drysol), iontophoresis, or botox. Secondary is treated by addressing the underlying medical condition. ...Read more

Maxim...: ...Is an otc antiperspirant, available online, that i've found effective (no financial interest). If that doesn't work, the drionic device (also available online) is effective for some. Oral prescription medications are available, but they tend to cause side effects and i try to avoid them whenever possible. Sometimes they are necessary, though, to control this embarrassing problem. ...Read more

My nose sweats a lot is there anything I can do?

My nose sweats a lot is there anything I can do?

Try a antiperspirant: It might sound strange to use an antiperspirant anywhere but under the arms, but it can be used on hands, feet, other places that sweat a lot! You may just have to try different brands at the store until you find one that doesn't have an odor or leave any noticeable residue. Mitchum makes an unscented antiperspirant cream that some people have used successfully! Good luck! ...Read more

My face sweats a lot during gym? Out of shape or coach too tough?

My face sweats a lot during gym? Out of shape or coach too tough?

Possibly neither: It is normal to sweat when exercising. Sweating does not mean that you are out of shape nor does it mean that your gym teacher is too hard. Additionally, each individual has a unique sweat rate. Meaning some of us sweat more than others. If you sweat more during gym than you do during other exercise, it means you are working harder there. If you don't otherwise exercise, then you are out of shape. ...Read more

Which cream is best to use if the face sweats a lot and how can I get rid of this problem?

Which cream is best to use if the face sweats a lot and how can I get rid of this problem?

No treatment: The cause of your excessive sweating lies in the fact of genetically predetermined sweat gland functioning. There is no cream known that would help. Under arm sweating can be controlled somewhat by deodorants, but facial sweating - no. There are pills like Atropine derivatives that reduce sweating, but i would not recur to any of those due to side effects. ...Read more

A hard lump behind an infants ear, it grows.. Not to fast but still grows, she often gets febrile seizures , and sweats a lot .Does this sound scary?

Probably not: Usually these are small lymph nodes (glands) or a small cyst and generally are benign. I can not see it being related to the other issues. Ask your pediatrician. ...Read more
