My Baby Has Not Pooped In 4 Days
Baby hasn't pooped in four days-- mainly breastfed but introduced small amount Of formula this week. Is that why?
Stool pattern: Stooling in babies is largely variable. Some breast fed babies stool with every feeding, others stool very infrequently and maybe only 2-3 times a month. I don't think the formula in small or sporadic amounts will affect this. As long as your baby is content and otherwise seems normal to you, I would wait on the next stool. If not, have him/her assessed. ...Read more
My two months old baby has very slimmy poop for three days now. She poops at least four times daily with hard noisy push anytime she wants to poop?
Don't worry: Unless the number of BM's have greatly increased and she is acting fussy and not eating well. You didn't mention if she is breastfed, and if that is the case , it's possible that some change in your diet is responsible. Watch for the next few days, and in most cases these changes resolve without an explanation. See your doctor if not resolving ...Read more
My 2 month old formula fed baby has not pooped for 4 days now, but seems ok. I'm worried about what's causing it?
My week old baby hasn't pooped in 4 days, he is breastfeeding and is jaundice, but his levels weren't high enough to go under light, should i be worr?
Normal i some: Your typical breast fed baby can have a little poo smear every feeding or one giant blowout every 7-10 days. If soft, i don't consider it constipation. As long as baby wets every 6 hours or more i would consider things within the range of normal. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Yes: It is very normal for babies to skip days pooping. It is quality, not quantity, that determines constipation in infants. If when she does poop it is soft/mushy/runny, then its ok for her to go days in between poops. Some breast fed babies are just so efficient at digesting the breast milk that they don't make much waste, and therefore, not much poop. ...Read more
My child has not pooped for 4 days. Fussy. Eating but not much. Vomited twice. Tried pear baby food; usually works. Other remedies? Concerns? ER?
Hard to say: Some breast fed babies may go a week without pooping and be normal. If older and on solids they are more regular. Peaches/pears/plums etc can help but sometimes take a couple days.Full strength prune juice is faster, but still can take a few days.A call to his docs service can help you decide how soon he needs to be seen. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My baby 2mo & breast fed. Hasnt pooped 4 3 days, & has pain karo syrup ddidnt help or qtip. What can I try?
Other Sx ???: The breast fed baby can have a small smear of poo every feeding or a giant crib filler poo every 7-10 days & be normal. If all of babies stools have been soft to this point & baby is otherwise behaving normally, i wouldn't do much other than wait for the inevitable poo. I baby has dropped his/her feeding activity & changes play patterns, an exam may be indicated. Call the office & check with dr. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
4 mo. old baby has been breast-fed only, we fed him some baby oatmeal cereal & now he has not pooped for 4 days (previously daily pooping), advise?
Probably OK: It is not unusual for babies to have change in stool pattern when you introduce cereal. Also, it is normal for breastfed babies to have longer periods of time with no stools. Breast milk is the perfect baby food, thus there is less "waste" so to speak. If the baby's stomach is not distended, and he has a large soft stool infrequently this is not constipation requiring intervention. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
