When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more
At 27 weeks pregnancy I had a blood test for rhesus c. They found cold antibodies. They say this can do no harm to my baby, but what does it mean for me?
Basically nothing: It may perhaps be a bit trickier finding the best donor blood should you need a transfusion, but there's enough c-negative blood available. Consider autologous donation should you be planning surgery -- always a good idea in any case. Congratulations on your upcoming delivery, and best wishes. ...Read more
I'm 27 weeks pregnant and still smoke, tried to give up but no willpower, not allowed any substitutes, realistically what damage am I doing to babies?
Please discuss with: Your ob, smoking can cause iugr, can lead to certain long term fetal problems and can also sometimes lead to placental abruption which is a bad emergency where the placental separates before term and an emergency c-section needs to be done and sometimes it is not done in time which could lead to CP or fetal death, smoking is very bad when u are pregnant. ...Read more
I've had two pregnancies that ended in which both babies heart just stopped beating one at 23 weeks one at 27 weeks. I'm 10wks pregnant now will this repeat?
Not necessarily: You most probably would have an another preterm baby, because the probability with having two prior preterm deliveries is getting higher. But it is not necessarily that the cause of preterm delivery would be the heart issues, unless you have a family history of it, or prior babies had the inherited heart diseases. You have to have a close follow up with your obstetrician anyway for that reason. ...Read more
How long is an infant protected from the flu shot given to a pregnant woman in the 3rd trimester? I got the 4 virus version.
Hard to be sure: The antibodies built during pregnancy are pushed into baby at a level higher per pound than mom retains. That said, all such antibodies begin to age out and become less effective with time. By 3-6 mo there is little if any left. Since there are always a few more flu strains circulating than the ones they can put in the vaccine, it is important to avoid exposure as the primary form of prevention ...Read more

It can vary.: Before 36 weeks the baby can change positions quite a bit. After 36 weeks more babies will be found in the head down position but some still change after that time. If your baby isn't head down and you are close to your due date your doctor should discuss this with you. ...Read more

Iam 27 weeks pregnant and I feel my baby everyday but sometimes more sometimes less. So I want to know what is normal at this stage.
Comletely normal: I am not as active one day to the next. Also, depending on how the baby is positioned one day to next, you may feel them a lot one day, and barely notice the next, especially at your stage. As you get another 6 weeks along, then they are big enough that every move is felt, so enjoy these mild reprieves for now. When at your next OB appointment, talk to him/her about fetal movement counts. ...Read more
I am 27 weeks pregnant. I do not feel the baby move consistently and definitely not 10 times an hour like I've read. Is this cause for concern?
Fetal kick counts: Fetal movement is one of the only ways to determine fetal well-being in between your prenatal visits. Babies move in cycles. They are not active all the time. If you have never felt 10 movements in an hour, that's less worrisome. We worry more when there is a change in movement, a diminishment. As your baby grows, the movements will become more obvious. I recommend kick counts starting at 28 wks. ...Read more
Hi I'm pregnant with my first child and I'm 27 weeks and I still haven't felt her move. Through the rest of my pregnancy would I still know when I go?
Time to re-check: You should feel fetal movements on a regular basis by this point. I would schedule an office visit where they can perform an ultrasound and assure fetal well being. ...Read more
I am currently 27 weeks and I have not smoked since I found out I was pregnant. Is my babys system clean?
3rd pregnancy, 27 weeks along and I look and feel as tho the baby's has dropped. Is this possible. Should I be worried?
The sensation of the baby dropping is not unusual for a 2nd pregnancy. However, if you note any abdominal tightening/cramping, change in discharge, bleeding/spotting or leakage, please get immediate attention. The main concern would be for preterm labor, but this is unlikely if your first pregnancy progressed to term without problems.
Hope that helps,

I'm 27 weeks & 3 days pregnant my midwife said IV extra fluid then I should have will this cause any harm to my baby?
Detailed Ultrasound: You should have a detailed ultrasound to evaluate the baby. Extra fluid won't harm your baby but it is important to try to figure out the cause. Sometimes diabetes in pregnancy can cause this. Sometimes a fetus with a problem that causes difficulty swallowing (cleft lip, muscular problem, blockage in the esophagus) can be involved. If those things are ruled out you just need close monitoring. ...Read more
How can you feel if baby's umbilical cord is wrapped around him? Pregnant 27 weeks, can you feel it? Or what can cause this?
You cannot - it's OK: Umbilical cord is commonly wrapped around the fetal neck, without any clinical consequence or even significance (normal in active fetuses). A pregnant woman has no way of knowing this (no symptoms expected) lest she has an ultrasound examination. Don't worry about this - there is nothing to be done as it is a normal condition. Best of luck with your pregnancy - keep all appointments. ...Read more

Hello im 27 weeks pregnant and baby movement has slowed down alot in last 2 days. Should I be worried?
Probably not: Your perception of fetal movements as well as their character/quality may change as the pregnancy progresses. Ask your Obs or midwife to instruct you about recording "Fetal Kicks" and when to seek additional screening by ultrasound or FHR monitoring/NST.
