My Arm Hurts From Throwing A Football
Frequent/avid bowler. Last couple weeks my throwing arm hurts a lot, in upper forearm to lower bicep area. By the end of the game I'm fine. Tendon?
That is a good cause: You are probably on the right track, talk with you doctor if it continues, I am available for second opinion if needed
Need more info: To help you better! How long does it begin hurting while you're writing? What part of your arm hurts? Fingers? Wrist? Hand? Elbow or entire arm? This isn't normal to have it hurting while writing. What makes it better or worse? These answers will help point to the solution you need to do. How many minutes or hours do you write/day? Overuse syndrome is common. Any problems texting?
It depends: Without knowing what part of your arm hurts, this is a difficult question to answer. It could be anything from tendonitis, to muscle strain/sprain, or arthritis. See your doctor so that he or she can determine the cause of the pain and decide what treatment is best for you.See 1 more doctor answer
Can be: You may be thinking of the referred pain to one's left arm as a sign of a heart attack? This typically is not in 26 y/o females, but if you have chest heaviness and shortness of breath, by all means go to your local emergency room.
Left arm pain: There needs to be more specific information. Was there an injury? Where does it hurt on the left arm? Were you doing something? Did you just wake up in pain? How long has it been going on? It is difficult to assess for the possible causes without more specific information.
Where is pain: To answer this question I would need to know where the pain is. Regardless, if you have persistant pain with working out I would stop doing the painful exercises and see if the pain resolves. If not it is time for an eval with your friendly neighborhood orthopaedic surgeon. Cheers.
Depends...: Depending on which part of your arm hurts, what makes it better and worse, and other aspects of your exam, there are multiple possible causes ranging from muscle tightness to referred pain to a pinched nerve. Start with your primary care doctor- they may refer you to a sports med doc or physiatrist for further diagnosis or treatment.
See below: The needle is inserted inot a vein to get the sample and when it is withdrawn some hemorrhage may occur from the vein if so this may casue some degree of discomfort or pain.
See ortho doc: You need an evaluation to see what is wrong with your shoulder joint or muscles/tendons if the pain is in your upper arm.See 1 more doctor answer
When one does things: Using muscles beyond their ability to use force, the muscle can change its metabolism. This can cause immediate soreness. The muscle is fatigued. When one has later or delayed soreness the next day it is because of some trauma to the muscle cells as you exceed their capacity. The good news is that if you do this just right, the muscle gets better at handling both situations... endurance/strength
Go see ur Family Doc: Is pain in joint or muscle? Any injury or trauma? Any break in skin? Redness? Red streaks? Boil or pocket of pus? Any repetitive motions? If no evidence of infection, consider RICE: rest, ice, compression & elevation. Also consider over-the-counter pain relievers if not allergic and no contraindications (reasons not to do so). If no better, then go see your Family Doc who may order xrays etc.
Hard to say: There are multiple potential causes. Usually it is either musculoskeletal or neurological. I would not hesitate to be seen. An exam could probably determine the likely cause if you are having enough trouble with it.
Everytime I smoke a cig my left side arm hurts and now since I've been smoking it hurts bad any suggestions?
Please listen to: Your body NOW. Your body hurts because you are harming it. You are 17 and you need to take responsibility for your health. Please put down the cigarettes. Make the choice to be healthy. Take care.
It could be a strain: Or it could be a fracture. Fractures have significant pain, deformity and loss of function. Strains are sore, you can have bruising and the arm can be stiff. If it is a fx the arm can be stabilized by a splint or Cast initially. An X-ray can confirm if there is a fracture and permanent treatment can be either casting, splinting or surgery depending on the fracture,
