Sounds like your: acute anxiety has now become chronically acute. Not good. Have any medical conditions? Substance or alcohol issues? Big stressors in life? Anxiety: There is help for anxiety, through both talk therapies and medications as needed. You might consider a second opinion from another psychiatrist and/or psychologist -- i don't know which of these your term "psych" refers to. Primary care physicians are not trained to do the in-depth psychotherapy that's needed for anxiety -- they can be very supportive though, & will often continue ongoing meds. ...Read more

Not meds alone: Medications alone will not solve this problem, yet your psychiatrist may have been trying to ease your way into working on this. You can also benefit from talk therapy with a psychologist/other psychotherapist to explore & deal with your anxieties and other possible issues.
