My ankles and feet are swelling and painful to walk getting bigger every 15min?

Heart or medications: This may be caused by heart failure, clots in your leg veins, certain medications, pressure on the legs from a large abdomen, insufficiency of the veins that return blood from your feet to your heart. Or a low protein level in your blood. Arthritis may be a factor. See a doctor. This could be simple and easy to correct or dangerous and in need of more extensive intervention.

See doctor: If you have new or recurrent pain after a stress fracture, you may have re-injured the area. Try not to bear much weight on the foot, and make an appointment with the doctor who treated your stress fracture.

Rule out Gout: You will need to rule out the possibility of gouty arthritis - it typically appears suddenly in a big toe (classic presentation), although it is usually accompanied by some form of swelling, redness or other discoloration.

What is the best way to get a splinter that is deep under the skin in the ball of my foot out. Painful to walk?

What is the best way to get a splinter that is deep under the skin in the ball of my foot out. Painful to walk?

Would avoid: "Bathroom surgery". If the credit card trick - scrape against the splinter didn't work - I would not dig for it. The simplest option is to see a podiatrist. P.S. When was your last tetanus shot? Take care.

Pain avoidance: Hi Emily, it is hard to say exactly what you are talking about. Sometimes a blister has a whitish color. You can try padding around the painful area to help take off the pressure for your big race, but should consider having it looked as well. Good luck!

Cause of swelling: There are many reasons for swelling in the lower leg and feet. But the 3 most common causes are; Trauma, infection, or circulation problems. I've had pain above my left ankle for some time now its extremely painful to walk or stand especially. I'm concerned about a clot no swelling though?

Remove all Doubt.: If the pain is behind the leg as opposed to being in front of the leg, there is a possibility that you are right. However, Consideration of a possibly partially torn or severely inflamed Achilles tendon also has to be considered. No matter, the cause of the pain should be evaluated and soon. A failure to do so could possibly lead to catastrophic events. Remove all doubt and have it examined.

Pain and swelling in feet and legs. Painful to walk. Hard to stand. Hot water is only thing that helps pain. What could this be?

Too general: Where the pain is specifically, how did it begin, what does the pain feel like, what time of day is the pain etc etc would help. The more info you provide..The better.

Gout vs heart issues: The swelling you're describing could be gout; the onset of which can occur at any age and is often the consequence of an extremely rich diet with pork, wine, salt, etc. If that's not the case then the issue is backflow from your heart (i.e. congestive failure). see your pcp; you need either a consult with rheumatology or cardiology per your PCP.

Have ongoing swelling and redness (and some pain)13 weeks after met. ORIF- top of foot and ankle. Told to walk normally. Ideas to get swelling down?

Get another opinion: After 13 weeks, there should be less inflammation. Without knowing specifics, the hardware needs to be checked for loosening, an infection needs to be ruled out, and chronic regional pain syndrome needs to be considered.

Pain in big toe mild swelling after falling down stairs. Difficulty walking (walking on side of foot). Pain wakes me and i think bone is displaced?

Pain in big toe mild swelling after falling down stairs. Difficulty walking (walking on side of foot). Pain wakes me and i think bone is displaced?

If you fell: Downstairs and have difficulty walking the foot likely should be xrayed. You also sound like at minimum should be walking in a surgical shoe that prevents the toe and metatatarsal joint from bending. Ice would do you well as well. Good luck.
