My 8 Years Old Brother Is Always Toe Walking Will He Outgrow It
See a specialist: A thorough evaluation is needed to determine why a child may be toe walking before consideration of treatment options. This includes the timeframe that the child has been walking like this, milestones, life stressors and congenital and neurological disorders that may be present. Conservative care includes physical therapy, serial casting and monitoring. If this fails, surgery may be indicated. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Your doctor may also suggest a safe exercise plan. Walking is usually the easiest type of exercise, but swimming or other low-impact exercises can work just as well. Exercise is an important way to keep blood sugar in control, and physical activity in pregnancy has been found to decrease the risk ...Read more
Turning in: Does the foot turn inwards when he is not standing? Or does his arch collapse when he is standing? If is in toeing of the feet correction could be achieve by serial casting which i would recommend you do as soon as possible before his muscles are developed. If the arch collapses, i would wait until he is 3 years old to see if he needs orthotics. See a podiatrist or child orthopod. ...Read more
My happy 10 months old babys' ankles are very stiff, i can't bend it. She is standing on her toes, never puts her heels down. Will she outgrow this later?
Toe walker: Toe walking is still within normal development at this point with your child. She is still attempting to develop balance. However, i would advise you to see a podiatrist for a complete foot/ankle evaluation and gait exam. A structural deformity needs to be ruled out in the ankle. Barring no bony block, rest assured, she is within normal development at this point and should outgrow this. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Should I get a helmet for my child? I fear that his head will be misshaped his whole life. He is currently 8 months old.
Cranial banding: is considered for children with skull deformities, and ideally started before 6 months of age. Each child is carefully evaluated and measured by the cranial banding team, and those who are candidates are offered the helmet. If the helmet has been recommended for him at this stage, it will likely be of value in preventing long term skull asymmetry. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers

Down : Down syndrome is pretty easy to detect on sight, and it's very unlikely that your baby has that condition without its having been detected. There could potentially be other issues, but it's not possible to tell whether or not there's anything wrong without a complete physicial evaluation. Babies develop at different rates, so there's no reason to be overly concerned if yours is a little behind his peers in some areas. Again, only a visit with your doctor can sort out what's within a normal range. ...Read more

My brother is 17 yrs old and only 50 kgs and 5 feet 8 inches tall. He is a vegan. He also has a problem of leg crossover while running.
Hip dysplasia: Slight hip deformities from birth and muscle imbalance are the first things I think of as causing the cross over. Experiment with shoe wedges based wider laterally. Remind your bro that Homo Sapiens is an omnivore and needs animal protein to produce many of the hormones hat keep him running. All veggies is a poor choice. He does not have the second stomach of ruminants to properly digest them. ...Read more
My 7 year old son broke his arm and it is in a cast. Is it safe to ride his bike? If he fell could he injure it more?
About 2 weeks: I would have him avoid activities that could lead to re-injury for about 2 weeks. By that time enough new bone will have been laid down that re-injury is unlikely. Encourage walks/hiking, non-contact activity, shooting hoops one-handed etc as alternatives to his bike for a couple of weeks. ...Read more

Offer : Offer him a variety of healthy foods from all food groups. This includes meats, dairy, fruits, vegetables, and starches. Often times kids at this age eat one big meal a day and snack the rest of the day. This is ok. Don't force him to eat. Give him whole milk instead of low fat. Also you can offer him pediasure between meals or after he eats very little. Kids usually like the taste, it's like drinking chocolate or strawberry milk. Make sure you are following up with his doctor to track his progress, and also inquire about anemia, and if you should start him on iron or a multi-vitamin. Hang in there. He will be fine. ...Read more
