My 6 year old daughter has had fluid in her ears and chronic cough for 4 months she's getting tubes inserted next week. Will this help the cough too?
No: During the procedure, old thick fluid is removed and the tube inserted, which acts as an open window in the drum, allowing air in and mucous to drain out. As the middle ear drys out, hearing improves and infection risk declines.Whatever is triggering the cough can aggravate the ear fluid problem, but fixing the ear issue doesn't effect the cough. ...Read more

Good question!: Many of us think fever after 72 hours is when you should check back in for more advice. If Tylenol (acetaminophen) controls the headache & fever, continue it. Ibuprofen causes GI upset, esp. in kids and taken with food, and should only be used an hour or so after Tylenol (acetaminophen) has not made your kid comfortable. (no pain, and a comfortable temp are the goal, not necessarily no fever at all). Get seen fast, if no help ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My 3 year old has had a cold and ear infection. Doctor gave her antibiotic 6 days ago. Last 2 nights has started running fever again. Any advice?
Fever high or not?: Hello. If the temperature is 100.5 or less, i would not be too concerned. Finish the antibiotic course as directed by your doctor. If the temperature is greater than 100.5 and your child has poor appetite or your notice fluid drainage from the affected ear you should take her back to the doctor. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

If he has recurrent wheezing with respiratory infections, a plan for the use of a bronchodilator and steroids can be outlined. Virtual appointments can be booked online. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
