My 5 Month Old Baby Is Constipated What Can I Give Him To Relive The Problem
Water: Most constipation is due to dehydration. Give him or her a little extra water or dilute his milk or formula with water. You can also try mineral oil, which is a clear oil, that you can mix with food or drink and this will naturally soften stool. If baby is throwing up, fevers, or not eating and excessively fussy, you need to contact your pediatrician. Try vaselline on rectum too. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My 7 month old baby is constipated. I can see her sphinx and she cries on occasion. Her stools are relatively hard. How can I help her find relief?
My 5 month old baby got a cold is there anything i can give him? Im taking him to the pediatrician thursday.
No cold med for baby: We do not recommend ANY cold medicines for children under the age of 6. You can suction his nose with a bulb syringe/nasal aspirator. You can use normal saline nose drops (eg AYR) to help loosen mucous, and you can have him spend some time in a steamy bathroom and/or run a humidifier. I am glad that you are taking him in to be seen to make sure that all he has is a viral URI. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Short or long term?: If this is just a one time thing for a few days, usually just some extra fluids and/or juice. You could do a one-time infant glycerin suppository as well (you know where that goes!). If it is a long term problem, then some diet changes with less milk products and more fiber needed. In addition, a product called MiraLAX (generic peg or polyethylene glycol) used on a routine basis is helpful. ...Read more

Colic: Medications can be given but the question is will they work? Simethacone or Ovol drops can be tried. Gripe water has no proven benefit. General measures of comfort are the 1st line of treatment. All the best. This disappears with gut maturity in 3-4 months. ...Read more

Also, is he truly : constipated? Babies don't need to have a bowel movement every day, so unless the stools are very hard, and infrequent and he is uncomfortable, you don't need to do anything. You can give him extra water in between his bottles of formula. If that doesn't help, please consult with his doctor. ...Read more

Depends: Straining or irregular stooling doen not mean constipation. The 1 wo breast fed kid may go 7-10 days without a stool or poo a little at each meal.As long as it is soft, i don't consider that constipation.
