My 4 month old son has 2 bottom teeth can I start giving hin solid foods?

My 4 month old son has 2 bottom teeth can I start giving hin solid foods?

Depends on your def: Most pediatricians recommend not starting solid foods until closer to 6 mo, and of course starting with rice cereal. Starting with rice cereal between 4-6 mo is acceptable, and stage i foods at 6 mo. Table foods, which are typical "solids" are not indicated until closer to 9 mo. And choking hazards are always an issue. No matter how many teeth, there probably won't be any chewing until 12 mo or so. ...Read more

My daughter is 5 months and 2 weeks old. She has been eating solids since 4 months. Can I give her baby snacks (i.E veggie sticks, etc) she doesn't crawl?

No. Still too young.: Babies around 6-8 months are breast feeders or bottle feeders, with pureed (or very mashed up) foods just for treats or learning experiences, but not as big parts of their diet. Babies don't chew food even after their first birthdays. Solid foods are too risky, and even so-called teething biscuits tend to choke babies. If trying such finger foods before 18 months, learn to do baby CPR first! ...Read more

What table foods can I give my 6 month old she have been eating home made baby food scenes she was 4 1/2 months old.

Pureed foods: She can have very soft foods such as yogurt for infants, but for now pureed foods are advised. She is learning to coordinate swallowing food without choking, and soft food is recommended. When she is older, then I would recommend introducing table foods in very small pieces no larger than the end of her finger. The foods should include fruits, vegetables and protein. ...Read more

My 2 yr old son has loose stools for several days. Probably bc he has drainage/working on molars too. What can I do to help? Feed him?

Teething Hurts!: Poor baby! When a mom suspects loose stools from teething, she is usually right! Keep up his regular diet, just avoid the " P" fruits for now, peaches, pears and prunes, which all can worsen diarrhea, limit juices, and be sure he's drinking plenty of water! Infant constipation: If you child has not begun solid food it may be better to add sorbitol-containing juices ( apple. prune, pear) . For infants four months and older, two to four ounces of 100% juice per day is good starting dose. For infants who has begun solid foods, sorbitol-containing fruit purees (peas or prunes) can be used. Also multigrain or barley cereal can be substitute for rice cereal. Good luck !!! ...Read more

My 2 year old got an egg out of the fridge and cracked it open. And my 10 month old daughter was eating it..Is she going to be ok?

In : In short - yes, she'll probably be fine. The big concern with raw eggs is salmonella food poisoning. This is caused by the bacteria, salmonella, occasionally found in raw meat, poultry or egg products. Symptoms are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pains, fever, bloody stool, headache and muscle pains. They usually start anywhere from a few hours to 2 days after eating the contaminated food. It usually runs its course in 4-7 days and other than keeping your child well hydrated, there's not much you can do. Medications such as antibiotics and antidiarrheals are generally not recommended since they can actually make the infection last longer. Yes: Pumped breast milk will be fine. It is not quite as convenient but has the same nutrition. Pumping is not as good as sucking at stimulating breast milk. He may not want to take it from a bottle but maybe a cup if he is used to your nipple. All the best and congratulations on wanting to continue breast feeding! ...Read more

Formula and diarrhea: Formulas are either soy based or milk based and your baby may be allergic to the basic underlying protein of the formula. Would stop that formula and see if resolves, May also be coincidental virus/ infection but if no fever that is less likely. Call the pediatrician today. Depends on you: Good nutrition is important to healing. So you want to be eating healthy. I tell my patients to have soft foods like yogurt, smoothies for the first few days and then build up to more solid foods as they can tolerate them. Since everyone heals differently it is impossible to give you an exact time frame, but if it doesn't bother you, you can use your own good judgement and eat it. ...Read more

My five month old son is constipated. (He just started eating solid foods.) Any tips or ideas on how to get his bowel movements back to normal?

A little juice.: If your son is having stools that are soft then he is likely not constipated, even if he is only having a bowel movement every couple of days. The introduction of solid foods can change the frequency of bowel movements as the solid foods take longer to process than milk or formula.
