Should we see make a special visit to the dentist about our six year old's teeth grinding? Bruxism runs in our family, but I've also heard that if a child is this young, then teeth grinding might not be a huge concern..

Another thought: All the previous answers about growth and development are absolutely correct. Bruxism is common.
However if your child also snores a lot and seems tired during the day, or has problems concentrating, then this can be a sleep apnea problem and this needs to be evaluated. Tonsils are the most common cause. ...Read more

How long is a night guard supposed to last? I've had my night guard for teeth grinding for a little over two years, but it already seems to be not fitting right and slipping out of my mouth. Is two years a normal amount of time before having to get a new

A: A properly made, hard, night guard, designed for bruxing/clenching should last for about 5 years. The acrylic material is designed for that. However there are people who will go thorough it at a much faster rate.

Coming: Coming off benzodiazepines is dangerous because withdrawal can include unstable vital signs and seizures. You need to be seen and assessed. Depending on how long you have been off of the alprazolam, you may be done with the withdrawal. If so, there are other safer medications for panic attacks that are nonaddictive so you won't go through this again. Please be seen medically so that you can safely taper the Alprazolam and then hopefully switch to a non-addictive medication. There are free mental health clinics that can help you as well. ...Read more
