My 10 Month Old Has A Fever
My 10 month old has a fever of 102.2 should I take him to the ER I have given infant ibuprofen its not helpin?
What other sx?: Fever @ a 102 level is common in infants & toddlers with a wide variety of minor and some significant illnesses. I find tylenol (acetaminophen) can give comfort & take a degree off a temp, but any resolution will be the illness going thru its cycles. If baby is playing some & taking fluids well enough to wet every 6hrs, u may be able to ride this out at home. If quiet, taking poorly etc. Call in & or see the dr.
Or to doctor: A 10 month old with that high a fever should be seen by a doctor. Check with your family doctor or pediatrician to see if they can see the baby before taking the baby to a hospital.
My 10 month old has a 101.9 fever (uner armpit reading), harsh cough, and congestion. She sleeps and breastfeeds. Should I seek professional help?
Depends: The fever often depends on the type of germ involved & where it is located. Many infant illnesses are viral & fever will last several days before recovery. As long as baby is taking in enough fluids to wet every 6hrs or better, is playful for much of the day & has no specific symptoms you can let it run its course. If baby can't seem to be playful at all, looks sickly or otherwise spooks you go in.
My 10 month old has red rash with lifted white bumps in it. Random parts of body, accompanied by fever and general sickness. What could this be?
See details: There are several types of viral illnesses with skin rashes. However, the issue should be evaluated by your pediatrician as a precaution.
My 10 month old has bruise like spots on the tips of 2 of his toes. No one can tell me what it is. Everything is coming back fine. No fever etc?
Capillary hemorrhage: Small blood vessels in the outer layers of skin called capillaries, are fragile, and as a result of any kind of pressure on the toes, say a tight baby shoe, can break and leave tiny pigmented spots as they heal. This is not something to be alarmed about, and should fade over time
My 10 month old has been sweating/clammy while nursing for the past 2-3 days. No fever. Have read this could be linked to heart problems.?
10 month old has rash on head trunk spreading to bottom. Occasional low grade fever. Dr said WBC count was low and is viral. Wife has rash now.
Rash.: So yes it does sound like a viral rash or exanthem of the skin and it easily spreadable or contagious to other individuals who are susceptible like other younger kids, immune suppressed individuals, or anyone else who hasn't been exposed to the virus in the past. As long as symptoms aren't worsening, there should be nothing to worry about in mom or child. See doc if worsening. Good luck.See 1 more doctor answer
My 10 month old been having a fever for3days n have dieharrah since yesterday some times she just lays there should I be worried?
Yes: Any child under the age of one year with fever and changes in behavior, either physical or mental or both should be seen urgently by a pediatrician. Please call your pediatrician and have her seen asap or go to an er.
Maybe: The average 10mo is both acquiring teeth & sticking his/her hands in their mouth covered with new germs from their surroundings. Whether this is teeth or low grade viral illness is hard to say. I expect about 3 diarrheal illnesses & 5-7 respiratory viruses/yr at this stage. Since we can't fix either I think we blame teeth a bit more than they really deserve.See 3 more doctor answers
10 month old having cold n fever fussy at feeding time refuses to take milk or any food. How to help him feed?
Evaluate.: Look for the cause of fussyness. Ear infection, upper respiratory infections can cause this. As long as there is no fever, you can wait till tomorrow. Dehydraton is a concern, so make sure the baby is wettiing diapers well. Do attempt feeding frequently, but there is not special way to force it, if bay refuses. Hence should be seen.
10 month old having cough, cold and fever (37.3-37.5) for 3 days is fussy during feeding times. How can I feed him.
Clear liquids: Make sure to give him lots of clear fluids (water, Pedialyte) to keep him hydrated. You can give it with a bottle, cup or even spoon, if necessary. Don't worry too much if he isn't eating well- the important thing is the fluids. That will help with the fever and loosen his mucous as well. Use bulb and saline drops to suction his nose. Call the doctor if he's not better.
Can I give my 10 month old qdryl and ibprofen at the same time? Ibprofen for fever and qdryl for his cough.
Pear juice can be OK: Any real fruit juice or puree should be ok with or without a fever. The main issues to consider: 1-too much sugar can lead to diarrhea if not eating regular food too, 2-kids might replace more nutritious food w juice, 3-if you are worried about dehydration, it is important to include a salt source with the sugar. As part of healthy diet, pear juice can be a nice source of vitamins and fiber!
Give clear liquids: If baby is otherwise fine, responsive, playful then you can try stopping all feelings of milk and solids and give only clear fluids in small amounts frequently; to see if the child will stop vomiting. If baby appears ill then the child should be seen by a pediatrician to determine the cause and do appropriate testing. Medications probably shd not be started till examination is done.See 1 more doctor answer
My 10 month old is irritable, had a 102 fever yesterday, refusing to eat, and isn't sleeping or napping well. What could it be?!
My 10 month old baby who has recently moved from usa is having fever since last 4 days upto102'f. Doctor has advised CBC test. Do I need to worry?
Hopefully not.: Fever in a child less than one year old is always a concern, which is why your doctor is trying to make sure it is nothing more serious than a virus. Your doctor is acting very responsibly and appropriately so that they can detect bacterial infection and treat it early if it occurs. If the test is normal your baby should get better soon. Give them lots of liquid and love.
Took my 6 y 10 month old daughter for routine dentist appt to get her front tooth pulled. Hours later, she now has a 102.5 fever, should I be worried?
Coincidence?: Probably. Was the front tooth infected? Extractions and dental anesthetics do not cause fevers. Discuss your concerns with her dentist and pediatrician.
Help! My 10 month old is sick. Runny stuffy nose and cough. Low grade fever. It hasn't gotten above 100 yet. What could be wrong?
VIRAL ILLNESS:: A common condition, caused by bunch of viruses. Starts with runny nose, cough, low grade fever, poor appetite, some nausea/vomiting/diarrhea. Make sure drinks enough fluid, if too much mucous- reduce milk, some extra juice for few days, suck nose with bulb syringe if runny; if thick mucous, use saline nasal drop, then suck. Acetaminophen if fever is above 101 f. See pediatrician if not better.See 1 more doctor answer
