Go to the hospital: The symptoms you describe are very concerning given your age. Without something that makes you think of a muscle strain, this is even more concerning. If you are short of breath, nauseated, have palpitations or are sweaty, please seek care immediately. Call 911. This can be a heart attack or a problem with your aorta. I hope it is neither of those things, but you should be seen asap to be sure. ...Read more

Can muscle strain cause arm numbness w/ back pain? Went to dr told me I strain my muscle.

28. Can a muscle strain or pinched nerve cause pain for months? Took a break from my fitness routine for a month and still feel it in chest/arm/back

Yes: When exercising did you feel a 'tear or pull' sensation? Is it chest or arm? Perhaps just persistent inflammation of a muscle/ligamentous structure, or nerve. Is it tender to touch? That would indicate a musculoskeletal structure, as opposed to in internal chest structure. Try stretching exercise, and Ibuprofen/naproxen OTC. If severe, or exertional, or associated w/ shortness of breath, see a Dr ...Read more

Went to my doctor today. He said a muscle strain in my upper back is causing arm numbness. Is this possible? Not sure if I'm buying it...

Arm numbness: Arm numbness comes from impingement of a nerve root in the cervical spine or a pinched nerve in the arm itself. Often people will have referred pain/numbness in the upper back too. Massage, physical therapy, and ice may be beneficial. If the numbness persists then an MRI of the cervical spine and a nerve test can help find the source of the numbness. ...Read more

Could arm muscle strain cause finger twitching and forearm fasciculations? Arm & Neck pain?

Fasiculations: Fasiculations may be a benign finding but when localized to only one part of your body it might be a sign of nerve damage; you say that you are having arm and neck pain which raises the possibility that you might have irritation of one of cervical (neck) nerve roots. If present, it would also explain why you see Fasiculations. If your signs/symptoms worsen/ persists consider a visit to your MD

HAVE MUSCLE STAINS: NECK TO ANKLE ALSO INTO ARM, MAINLY HIP SNAPPING. WOULD TENDON RELEASE SURGERY MAIN THIGH MUSCLES CORRECT WHOLE BODY SIDE STRAIN?

Varies: You would really need a detailed exam to answer that. There are occasions where we can fix one condition and that can lead to improvements in other areas of the body due to compensation. There are other occasions where a person may have two or more conditions and fixing one of them will only lead to improvement on that specific condition. Don't hesitate to be seen and thoroughly evaluated. ...Read more

Yesterday morning I stretched my arms up and immediately felt extreme pain on left side mid back. Strained muscle? Still hurts often going into arm?

Yesterday morning I stretched my arms up and immediately felt extreme pain on left side mid back. Strained muscle? Still hurts often going into arm?

Probably not muscle: It is unlikely that a muscle strain is causing radiating arm pain. The pain description you have given is more consistent with a cervical spine (neck) issue. Fortunately, it is very acute and likely to improve spontaneously. You can take over-the-counter medications and apply heat or ice. If the symptoms persist, worsen or become disabling, see your physician for more testing and treatment. ...Read more

Pain in left calf, ER said strained muscle. No obvious clot signs. Sometimes same pain in arm. Worse when I walk. Possibly PAD? I'm 25.

About PAD:: Peripheral Artery Disease is narrowing of arteries in legs (sometimes arms), usually from plaque from years of smoking, high cholesterol, diabetes, high blood pressure, and/or genetic tendency. Pain occurs when walking and goes away at rest (unless severe enough to need surgery - would be obvious on exam). Pulses in feet generally weak. Toes might be cool/cold, purple or blue, or ulcerated. ...Read more

Have had left upper arm pain for a few days. No injury or strain. Plus, my right arm/fingers started to tingle today. What could be wrong?

Arm pain: I am not sure, but as described, it sounds as if you have a pinching nerve that is innervating your upper arm. Possibly arthritis in your neck or shoulder area where the nerve travels down to your arm is occurring. See the Dr. For an evaluation and possibly an EMG test to determine if you indeed have some nerve issues happening (possibly even Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, etc.). Best Wishes. ...Read more
