Muscle Spasms In Hands And Feet Causes
Do I have a vitamin B12 deficiency or MS? I'm 19, female with tingling, numbness in head/scalp, feet, legs, and hands. Muscle spasm? Anxiety maybe?
Most likely anxiety: Most likely anxiety but a good idea to get checked out by the physician and try to rule out some of those other possibilities
Muscle spasms are typically painful involuntary muscle contracures which can occur in any part of the body, such as the neck, back and legs. There are various causes of muscle spasms such as recent injury or trauma and dehydration. Typically, patients can modify activity, rest, stretch, utilize heat or ice for treatment of muscle spasms. Numb/tingling in hands, legs, and feet on both sides. Muscle spasms in legs, back and arms. Loss of balance, dizzy, stiff. Is it Neuropathy or ms?
Bad choices: You probably don't need or want to pick A or B. Both require a doctor's DX and TX and it might be another thing altogether. A common cause of neuropathy is a diabetic condition w/ other signs too - are you a diabetic? Get into care if 'yes'! MS usually starts a bit later in age. Have an exam to find an answer. Best!
What could cause muscle spasms in hands and feet due due problems with cervical spine disks c6-c7?
Spinal cord compress: To have symptoms in both the arms and the legs, this is more than just a pinched or compressed nerve root. It is a compression across the spinal cord at the c6-7 level termed a cervical myleopathy. This is either a large disc herniation or a disc herniation in the presence of spinal stenosis. You need to see a spine specialist for an urgent evaluation.See 3 more doctor answers
Spasms: Can be caused by a neurological condition. They can also be "mini cramps". Cramping is usually caused by an electrolyte imbalance or dehydration. If it is happening all of the time, I would see my primary care doctor and then probably a neurologist.
Muscle spasms legs, feet and side back come and go, mild but noticeable. Had for 1 month. Is it MS, ALS will I get paralysed?
No: Someone has been reading too many medical horror stories. It is mega highly unlikely that spasms in an otherwise healthy 20 year old represent anything but overuse or electrolyte disturbance. The diseases you mention generally do not begin like that. See your family doc for an evaluation and reassurance of the correct diagnosis, so you can get this problem resolved.
What can anxiety cause? Can it cause. Muscle spasms. Vision change. Acne and tingling in the hands and feet. Ibs even?
Possible: Short term physical effects of anxiety can be insomnia, change in appetite, fatigue, diarrhea, sweating, muscle tension, distorted vision, headaches, shortness of breath and heart palpitations. High stress and anxiety over the long term can put one at a higher risk for medical illnesses such as heart disease. See your dr. To rule out any underlying medical causes to your symptoms.
I get muscle spasms and charley horses often in my feet, hands, and sometimes neck almost every time I exercise. What do you think this is due to?
Dehydration: Try hydrating with electrolytes (like sports drinks, not just water) to see if that helps. Dehydration can cause spasms in multiple areas. That being said, if it does not help, then see your physician to see if you have any other issues, including anemia (common in your age group), electrolyte issues or metabolic issues. Make sure to stretch after working out as well. Hope that helps!See 1 more doctor answer
I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and I experience cold hands and feet, tingling and small muscle spasms. Could it all be linked to the Ehlers Danlos?
Unlikely: Look for another cause. You may not find it. Keep them warm. Best wishes.See 1 more doctor answer
Painful muscle spasms, random jolts of pain in hands/feet/wrists, and painful cramps in feet a lot for past 2 weeks but no injuries and I'm only 22?
Extremity pain: Can be due to many things. Anything from circulation. Endocrine/hormonal or metabolic issues. Diabetes. Thyroid or even monthly cycles can give diffuse symptoms in all extremities. Start with a thorough evaluation and physical from a primary provider
Are occasional muscle spasms on the side of your foot and in your hands normal? Had unrelated brain MRI and neuro consult 6 months ago, came back fine
Muscle cramps: Are more likely to occur if your fluid / electrolyte status is a bit off. An example of this is the cramping that can occur when you play sports and attempt to replace sweat with pure water instead of a special sports drink like Gatorade. I would not expect the problem to show up on an MRI. tell your doctor about the cramping
I have been having soreness in my knees when standing. I also have had muscle spasms all over and tingling in my hands and feet. Do I have als?
Slow Your Roll: Whoa, there are a lot of simpler and less deadly things than ALS that could cause these symptoms! You need a comprehensive evaluation.See 1 more doctor answer

What do I do for estreme leg, feet and hand muscle cramps? Kept me up all night--still spasaming. Tried diazapam that I have for occasional cramping and drank some tonic water for the quinine and drank gator ade for the electrolights.
I: I agree with dr. Jaffery. Another consideration would be spinal cord irritation and a neurologic exam would be able to uncover that problem. Before you visit the neurologist make sure to differentiate between "spasms", cramps, and restless legs. Spasms respresent a painful and involuntary muscle contraction. It can not be released voluntarily. A muscle cramp is a sudden intermittent pain of a muscle that may involve involuntary contractions and can be associated with spasms. Restless legs refers to an uneasiness and restlessness in the legs when at rest. This most commonly occurs after going to bed but can be seen earlier in the evening (anticipation). Cramps can also be associated with arthritic conditions and cold exposure. I hope this helps.
Hip/ butt muscle spasms on left side like charlie horse. Recent MS dx. Possible symptom? Very painful lasted 2 days already. Suggestions?
SOME THOTS: Pain is very common in ms, and can present numerous ways, and even migraine is present in ms pts at a frequency of 2-4 times normals. However, your muscle spasms could represent a separate process in hip, back, pelvis. (unlikely, but if you were given steroids, check for avascular necrosis in hip). Lastly, do not want to second guess your doc, but there are oral meds now (no needles).See 1 more doctor answer
Muscle spasms: Painful muscle spasms can be either a cramp, or what is called a dystonia. Focal cramps are often from overuse, like too much keyboard use, or holding the hand in a fixed position for a long time. Causes of focal cramps can be either medical or neurological in nature. Evaluation of the muscle involved, and the type of pain can help to figure out the cause.
I get sweaty hands and frequent muscle spasms all over my body even when I'm not nervous. They both usually go away on vacations. What could cause this?
Possible Anxiety...: There are a multitude of possible reasons for these symptoms. From simple anxiety and stress to a host of endocrinological (glandular is an old term) or metabolic changes. I would stop caffeinated beverages (coffee, soft drinks/sodas, etc.) and probably see your Pediatrician or Primary Care Physician. The vacations may or may not help support anxiety as a reason, but not necessarily.
See Doctor: Muscles in our body contract and relax consciously and unconsciously. A muscle that involuntarily contracts without our consciously willing it is called a "spasm." if the muscle maintains a sustained "spasm", it becomes a cramp, as can be seen with exercise. Causes: overuse, neck and back problems, posture, fatigue, diminished blood supply, injury, metabolite imbalance and certain diseases.
It is a body tissue that has the ability to contract. It shortens and generates force. It relaxes and returns to its original length. Muscles move joints, stabilize the body, move air and food through the organs, act as valves for bladder, bowel and other organs. They control movement of the eyes. They help us express ourselves by changing the shape of our ...Read more
