Causes of sciatica: There are causes for sciatica besides disc problems. Hypertrophied muscle or spasm can push on the sciatic nerve causing pain to radiate down leg. The muscle can be in the lower back or pelvis. Spasm: Absolutely, spasm can reduce blood flow and cause pain/aching in the leg. Not sure why you had the steroid IM shot though. Consider getting your low back looked at by a chiropractor or a DO who knows how to manipulate. Odds are you have a structural issue somewhere below L2. Call your MD: I assume u had flexor tendon repair following a laceration to your hand (most common). Ice, elevation is important first24-48 hrs; and elevation of the hand really the first week. U likely are in a splint for comfort and to protect repair. If you're spasms continue call your md. .. Splint should protect the repair but he may advise a muscle relaxant and to be seen.
