The differential diagnosis includes scoliosis with muscle spasm along the convexity of the curve, thoracic nerve root injury, or retroperitoneal problems such as kidney stones. Pulled muscle: Can do this. Other conditions that can cause pain in this area include Gall bladder disease, pleurisy and heart disease. Rib cage: The pains you describe are not likely to relate to the heart. They are more likely musculoskeletal, neurological or inflammatory in nature.

? Flu vax reaction: The original symptoms may have been muscle inflammation, gall bladder attack or inflammation/infection of the right lung. The fever and chills could have been a reaction to the flu shot but infection in lung or gall bladder must be considered depending on the appearance of other symptoms.
