Muscle Relaxers And Weight Gain
I have fibromyalgia. MY pain specialist just prescribed baclofen for a muscle relaxant but I forgot to ask about weight gain as I am already considere?
Baclofen: Hi: the more common side effects of baclofen include drowsiness, feeling of weakness, dizziness, fatigue, headache, insomnia, nausea, increased urination, or constipation. Weight gain can occur, but it is not the most common. If you stay with Baclofen, do gentle exercises (aquatherapy in warm for example), that will give resistance and at the same time support your body weight. All the best! ...Read more

They help us express ourselves by changing the shape of our ...Read more

Can you clarify?: I'm really glad you're exercising. If you were gaining fat, it's a good way to get back into fitness. Muscle development and staying trim are reflections of an entire lifestyle. Your physician can guide you in getting re-started. ...Read more

What is a reasonable amount of weight gain per week after starting weight training program if diet remains same? Muscle weighs more than fat....
Weighs the same: A pound of fat weighs the same as a pound of muscle. Fat is less dense, takes up more space. As you get leaner, clothes tend to get looser, even at the same weight. Add muscle mass to that and clothes may get snug, e.g. Broader shoulders, bigger biceps. Want weight gain? Will need to increase calories in, and/or decrease calories out. ...Read more

Increases metab rate: Muscle and fat weigh the same (pound of fat weighs same as pound of muscle); muscle is denser, so clothes fit better if one is leaner at the same weight. Muscle burns more calories than does fat. Leaner body burns more calories, even at rest, because there is more metabolically active tissue. Often w/ crash diets, there is xs loss of muscle, so you get more flabby w/lower weight. ...Read more
No and depends:
A 20-hour flight should have no effect on muscle mass. It will only cause weight gain if you eat a large amount of fattening food (like the soft drinks they serve).
The greatest hazard to health on a long flight is getting blood clots in your leg; this is best avoided by getting up and walking every couple of hours. Blood thinners like low-dose aspirin (81mg), ginger & fish oil can help prevent. ...Read more

It's your money: This is a pricey vitamin-mineral preparation, with betaine (you decide, it's got some effects) and a couple of metals such as vanadium the only stuff you're not likely to find in a cheap chain-pharmacy daily tablet. I'd have trouble telling you they're worth the money. It'll be far more pleasant even short-run to male-bond with some gymrats and work yourself super-hard. Good luck. ...Read more

I walk on the treadmill every day for an hour at 4.1 mph. I've read that long slow walking leads to weight gain because of muscle loss. Why?
Exercise: FirstA959~ weight loss is the result of negative calorie intake wrt work output (exercise). So, if you take in 3000cal/day and expend 3500cal/day the 500 burned = weight loss. As a guide the exercise must be > your baseline activity, and must be significant and protracted. If you are morbidly obese walking 4.1mph for 30 – 60 mins is significant and won't cause weight gain.EXERCISE! ...Read more
All if used right: I don't know of any whey protein powder that causes "massive weight gain." in general, weight gain comes from excessive starches &/or fats. Pure protein like whey does not cause this. But one will not have muscle gain just by eating whey- only by exercising as well! I strongly advise whey from grass-fed cows not given hormones & antibiotics, even better if processed at a low temperature. ...Read more
