I suppose: it is theoretically possible to get a so-called "tug lesion"(bone overgrowth at the tendon insertion) at the mastoid process due to long-standing, sustained abnormal muscle traction or dysfunction, but I have never seen it or heard of it in that location. Can STERNOCLEIDOMASTOID muscle get caught on something? Felt an intense snapping in that area running from behind ear down neck. Area is now sore.
Interesting: A disc issue in the neck should not cause vertigo or dizziness. It can, in severe cases, cause issues with ambulation and gait stability. As far as chest muscle tension, there can be associated/referred pain that can be occasionally associated with lower cervical disc issues. Possible infection: Lymph nodes are localized groups of white cells that are designed to attack foreign tissue, especially infections. Yes: Ear pain can be VERY SEVERE! It can travel to neck, shoulder as well jaw and make sleeping, eating and thinking appropriately very difficult. If having ear pain u shd see ur doctor ASAP.
