Vaginal itch: Bactroban (mupirocin) is an antibacterial ointment. it is not likely to help with vaginal itching. Mupirocin: Mupirocin is used to treat certain skin infections. It is an antibiotic that works by stopping the growth of certain bacteria. Unless the vaginal itching is caused by one of those bacteria, there would be little reason to use this medication. A good plan would be to see a doctor for an evaluation. This would lead to a diagnosis that had a specific and effective treatment. ...Read more

A friend keeps getting boils one after another in different areas. Hes had antibiotics each time & used bactroban (mupirocin) for 3days. Why? What else can he do?
Culture: Find out what type of bacteria he is colonized with by nasal and lesion culture to best determine which antibiotic(s) to use. Hibiclens when showering, topical bactroban to the lesions and a course of nasal bactroban (in addition to the baths with bleach noted above) might be useful. I would also culture and decolonize close contacts with hibiclens and nasal bactroban is helpful to prevent spread. ...Read more

I visited a doctor and was prescribed paracetamol , antibiotic and mupirocin oitment. Will it help in curing boil? Is there anything else I can do? It pains and at times very hard!
Heat and drain maybe: Frequently a boil might need to be drained with a simple incision. Antibiotics will not penetrate the area of puss collection well. It looks like this was not your case at the time. Possibly the treatment you have now will take care of it. Also applying warm compress over it may help it also. There are other"home remedies"described"out there' but none that for sure work as far as I know. ...Read more

Wrong treatments...: ...and my guess is they didn't help much. Your symptoms were typical for a yeast infection, maybe genital herpes, and possibly other STDs like gonorrhea or chlamydia. None of these would respond to either of these treatments, and delaying proper treatment could cause big problems. You should see a doctor or clinic ASAP for professional examination, testing, and proper treatment. Good luck! ...Read more

Won't help: Most skin abscesses (boils) are not caused by yeast, the only thing treated by Monistat. No antibiotic cream will help. Depending on exact location (e.g. if this is a Barthoin cyst) it could be an STD like gonorrhea. Whatever the cause, it may require lancing and/or an oral antibotic, especially if large, especially tender, etc. Best to see a doctor for professional evaluation and treatment. ...Read more
