Swollen gland left hand side under chin appeared after eating. This has happened twice in past six months. It takes abt a week to return to normal.

Sialadenitis: The history is indeed suspicious for parotid infection (parotitis) and/or stone in the parotid duct, but it is not clear exactly what is going on. Other possibilities include neck abscess or lymphadenitis. All of these are pretty high acuity problems that warrant prescription medication treatment. Half thyroid: If half the thyroid is removed, it is normal for the other half to get bigger to compensate. Also, if the "problem" originally was a nodular thyroid, that problem usually affects both sides, even if the right side looked normal at the time. Steroids: would be most likely to reverse the problem. Steroids by mouth, such as a Prednisone taper would probably work the best. Steroids reduce inflammation (swelling) and that should stop the pain. Are you sure it was related to eating corn?
