Multiple Vitamins With Iron Medication
I have Hemoglobin (low iron) is there anything I can do ? Or any medications, vitamins I could take to fix this?
Ok then: we all have hemoglobin. Some have low hemoglobin (anemia), of which one of the types of anemia is due to low iron. Discuss with your doctor as this is many times due to blood loss, and it's sometimes necessary to treat what's causing the iron deficiency, and not just replacing iron. But in meantime you can probably start some simple Iron supplements. The pharmacist can point them out to you. ...Read more

What to do if I am taking cipro (ciprofloxacin) 500mg and it says not to take antacids, iron or vitamins, do you think its okay to take nght time sleep aid with this medication?
Cipro (ciprofloxacin) & sleep aid?: well, it says no antacids, iron, or vitamins. While you dont specify which sleep aid you take, it's unlikely to contain antacids, iron, or vitamins. To be certain, however, check the label of your sleep aid & obtain the name or active ingredient & ring ur pharmacist and/or MD. Always tell each of ur prescribers all meds ur taking, including over the counter meds/supplements for proper counsel! :) ...Read more

Just one, however: I'm not sure what you mean by start working- even one will increase the amount of vitamins in your body. But there are many far better choices than 1 a day.It has soy which is likely from gmo sources which i consider risky. It has 3 artificial colors that can cause adverse reactions (& are unnecessary), titanium dioxide (a possible carcinogen)& synthetic vit e which is also unhealthy. Likely: When the diet is erratic or health marginal supplements may be of value. The usual male iron loss is 1-2mg/d and since you only absorb 10% of dietary iron, a supplement at that level is unlikely to cause problems. What the body doesn't need it will not absorb. Since a regular diet supplies the need, supplements just make for expensive pee/poop. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Is a hgb of 11.2 concerning for a boy who JUST turned 4? Dr suggested iron vitamin but I still worry. Thank you!
Is 10 mg of iron in a multi vitamin too much if I do not need extra iron? I took a multi with this amount for the last three days.
Not a problem: If you get enough iron in your diet (e.g., meats, beans, fortified cereals), and are not low on it somehow (e.g., women losing it with heavy periods) you won't need to take extra iron. However, the amount you mentioned is not a lot of iron. For comparison, a packet of oatmeal has approximately 11 mg of iron. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I take one of the 'all in one' tablets, that's supposed to give me a full days vitamins, iron, excetera. Do any of them really work?
Packaged group: They are packaged group of components, like a grocery bag has different things in it. To determine what they have, read the label and take note of the amount of each component. You may need more of a dosage of what is in it - if so you can add another tablet that has what extra you need. Consult with your doctor and/or nutritionist for your customized dosages. ...Read more
Im taking prenatal vitamin and iron. But i have read that prenatal vitamin contain iron too. It will not be an overdose of iron if im taking both?
The main reasons: your doctor would recommend an additional iron supplement to your prenatal vitamin is that your prenatal vitamin does not contain the recommended amount (30 mg daily) or your iron level was found to be low/you were told you are anemic. A prenatal vitamin and an iron supplement taken together will often not be tolerated without nausea; separate them. Check with Doc if further questions. Good luck:) ...Read more
Is it normal to have pasty bm and it's hard to pass it's not black or bloody, I've been taking vitamins but nothing with iron why is this happening?
Yes, can be normal..: Changes in the consistency of stool can occur, and be considered normal, with any and all alterations in what goes into you gastrointestinal tract: from changes in food, beverages, medications, supplements, even gum! The stool consistency you describe sounds like it needs more bulk: gradually add some fiber in the form of whole grain cereal, bread, brown rice, possibly some vegetables. ...Read more
I need to take a iron pill because my iron was a little low. The iron pills make me sick. Would I get enough iron from a flintstone with iron vitamin?
My iron is a little low - 10.9- it usually runs around 12. Is this cause for concern or might it fluctuate? I started a multiple vitamin with iron to help.
Anemia: There isn't much iron in a daily multiple vitamin. You might want to add ferrous gluconate which is a higher level of iron twice-daily. There should be an explanation as to why you are anemic so see your dr. For a workup. Anemia can be a sign of a serious illness so be sure and get checked. ...Read more
I'm taking prenatal vitamins and i'm worried about taking in too much iron as an anmeic. How much is too much?
Good question: You need to monitor your blood level of iron and ferritin. Also you may need to check a few other things such as serum folate (folic acid) and b12. The size and hemaglobin concentration on the basic CBC blood test is a start. If you have a low rbc count and your rbc size is small (low mcv) you may have iron deficiency. If the red cells are larger than normal think low folate (folic acid) or low b12. ...Read more
