Multiple Simple Ovarian Cysts
8 week followup u/s for simple left ovarian cyst which remains same. Right side (no cyst) now measures 19 cc up from 12cc last time. Concerning?
A cyst is a structure or mass that consists of a cellular lined sac. It is typically filled with fluid but may be filled with solid material. It can be congenital, traumatic, or acquired. They may develop nearly anywhere in the body and usually require complete excision for eradication or they are likely to recur. Fluid filled sacs that are not cellular lined ...Read more
OK: The definition of simple ovarian cyst is in comparison with complex cyst. Simple cyst is diagnosed with ultrasound, you will see a cystic structure in the ovary with echo-lucent (very clear). Very oftern, it is a non-ovulated follicle. It will disappear naturally without treatment. The complex cyst, on the other hand, with echogenic area inside of the cyst, needs further investigation. ...Read more
No: Most avascular cysts in the ovary are functional or physiological cysts that appear and resolved spontaneously. For peace of mind, a follow up ultrasound may be performed in 3 months or so ...Read more

I have a 5.9 cm simple ovarian cyst. I have no pain or symptoms. I was told if it grows it might need surgery? What is the danger if it grows?
Important: First, are you 47 years old? I mean no offense but 50% of ages given on HealthTap are untrue. If 47 is correct the risks are torsion (twisting) and rupture. Any cyst larger than 6 cm. is a significant risk for these , both of which require emergency surgery. AT age 47 the chance of cancer, while not terribly high, is still plausible. Hence, needs removal. Good wishes. ...Read more
More fluid: Cysts can change size overtime due to production of more fluid. ...Read more

I am 54 years old with a painful ovarian cyst for 4 years now. Ultrasounds show it is simple. Does it need to be removed? I am not menopausal yet.
Maybe: You do not mention how large or small it is. A large simple cyst can be painful just as a small one. If it does not respond to treatment and it is still painful, there may not be that many options left other than take it out. ...Read more
Have two ovarian cysts on my LT ovary. 4.5cm simple & 1.5cm solid. Solid one has increased to 5.3cm. nothing has been done, 2nd opinion? Alot of pain
Are fluid filled ovarian cysts less likely to be cancerous? I have a simple fluid filled. one, plus a para simple cyst.
Cancer rare: Many women get ovarian cysts during their reproductive years. Most will never develop ovarian cancer. This gland functions to produce eggs. These eggs grow inside ovarian tissue within a sac or follicle. During ovulation the egg is released from its sac passing into the fallopian tubes. Usually the sac dissolves, but sometimes remains and fills with air or fluid to develop well defined cyst ...Read more
Last May 22, 2017 i had undergone a polyp removal , after which i was diagnosed with simple hyperplasia and with left ovarian cyst ?
Unclear question: The information you provided is not a cause for concern. However it is not clear if you have a question. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex, if you have sex. ...Read more
I have a simple ovarian cyst of 4,14 cm.what is the possibility of it to rupture? what should I do if I want to be safe until next ultrasound?
Will likely go away: Physiologic simple cysts that are under hormonal influence will come and go often, sometimes by a slow leak, sometimes by a rupture and sometimes by your body essentially absorbing it. Unfortunately rupture can cause pain and sometimes it can bleed, but there is not much you can do to prevent this sequence other than to prevent cyst formation, possibly by using birth control pills. ...Read more
Are there medications other than surgery to decrease the size of large benign 13 CM simple ovarian cyst or at least prevent it from getting bigger?
No: There are many reasons a 13 cm cyst needs to be removed by surgery: unknown type, rupture, torsion,... often the cyst can be removed without removing the ovary. It would be w-a-y outside standard of care (at least in the US) to "observe" this rather than remove. If it hasn't been removed for tissue, how do you really know it's benign? ...Read more
Could s simple 2 cm ovarian cyst on ultrasound that shows up as small enhancing cyst on ct scan be malignant in a premenopausal woman? no change in yr
Low chance: If the cyst is described as simple then there is only fluid inside. So no other growths inside the cyst. Simple cysts are almost always benign. The fact that it hasn't changed in a year is also a good sign. Overall, very low chance of being malignant. Ask your doctor to monitor it every year. ...Read more

How serious is a complex ovarian cyst? I have never had a complex ovarian cyst before. Always simple and i haven't had problems with them for years. Now suddenly I have had two cyst rupture in one week! i was in the ER and told it would just be a few days
I : I am so sorry you are going through this. Ovarian cysts are a very painful, miserable condition. As the er physician advised removal, it is worthwhile to discuss this with a gynecologist. In some patients, treatment with anti-inflammatory type medications or even birth control pills can help shrink cysts down. However, if the cyst looks concerning on ultrasound, often times the patient is advised to have it removed. Only a licensed gynecologist who reviews your studies and takes your history can advise one way or the other. ...Read more
