Broad differential.: The differential diagnosis is broad. The cause of your pain could indeed be ovarian in etiology. However, it is not uncommon for other disease processes (such as kidney stones) to refer to groin area as well. More history, exam, and possible imaging studies may be needed to give you a good answer. Hope this helps! ...Read more

Have two ovarian cysts on my LT ovary. 4.5cm simple & 1.5cm solid. Solid one has increased to 5.3cm. Nothing has been done, 2nd opinion? Alot of pain

How long should the irritation from an ovarian cyst last. I have one burst about 6 weeks ago and still having sever pain around my ovary.

6-8 weeks: Normally, a ruptured cyst resolves in 6-8 wks. It depends on the size of the cyst and how much fluid spilled. Your body has to reabsorb the fluid. Sometimes, scar tissues forms as a result and causes chronic pain. Wait 2 more weeks, if not better, go see your gynecologist. You probably need a repeat ultrasound to be sure it's gone. If the pain is severe, go now. ...Read more

MRI (for other purpose) found 3 cm. Ovarian cyst. Post-menopausal, hysterectomy/one ovary. Wasn't felt 4 months ago at gyn exam. Expect follow-up?

Very likely benign: If a pelvic sonogram confirms that your 3 cm ovarian cyst has thin walls, clear fluid, no septation and normal blood flow, it is most probably benign. If you have a personal history or a family history of breast-colon-endometrial-thyroid tumors, have never been pregnant, never used oral contraceptives, have symptoms and risk factors for ovarian tumors...consult a Gyn oncologist for evaluation. ...Read more

Doctor found 2 ovarian cysts. One on each ovary. Suggested a gynecologist. Will I need surgery and is this normal? I know cysts are normal but 2??

Can happen. Depends.: Finding 2 cysts is more unusual than finding one, but given your age (22 yrs), it is not unusual. Also, cyst can form at a certain point in your menstrual cycle - the cyst houses the egg (in your case, potential twins - 2 eggs - if you become pregnant). In any case, usually a repeat ultrasound (at a later point in the cycle or another cycle) to see if it changes. Don't worry, but seeing a Gyne OK. ...Read more

I have 3 ovarian cysts, one on tube. Have fluid in pelvis. Getting us in a few weeks. Now abnormal pap. Getting colposcopy. Should I be worried?

Don't worry, but: Whoa! Ovarian cysts aren't on tubes so you either have 2 ovarian cysts and one tubal (?), or 3 ovarian cysts. This is not to worry about by itself. Fluid in the pelvis? All people have small fluid, and all women have fluid around ovulation and around menstruation. Fluid doesn't automatically mean problems. Bad Pap goes with colposcopy but not the other issues. Your doc can clarify more. Best! ...Read more
