Proabbly not: it's very common for blood to go down the throat. One small bleed that stopped promptly is not a big deal and not a reason for medical attention. Your son should: be seen in the office, by a family doctor or not. He should avoid blowing his nose, and picking at it. Those are the most common reasons for which people make it nosebleeds, on top of that the weather and the dryness from the heating systems here in Montréal make it so that it's much better to have a humidifier.
