Mucus Stuck In Sinus Cavity
Unlikely: Decongestants usually do not clear eustachian tube obstruction with mucus. It would not be harmful to try sudafed, but if say 5 days of treatment does not help, i would not continue. Trying decongestant nasal drops and lying down with your head turned to the side may allow the drops to get into the tube and might give some relief. In general, these are viral infections and immunity will cure. ...Read more

This can also cause halitosis due to the communication between the oral cavity and the nasopharynx. ...Read more
Small nasal polyp on bottom of left frontal sinus and polyp in left maxillary floor. Could these polyps cause unusual tastes with increased mucus?
Perhaps but: If these were diagnosed on a ct scan, i would wager that the findings may actually be more consistent with mucus retention cyst or mucosal thickening rather than polyp. See an ENT who can perform an endoscopic evaluation in the office for appropriate diagnosis and treatment. Polyps may cause increased nasal discharge. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Possibly: Asymptomatic cysts and polyps are common in the maxillary sinus and often have no relationship to sinus disease. So an inflamed septum probably has no relationship unless it is so deviated that it presses into the middle meatus which could obstruct the drainage pathway for the maxillary sinus. ...Read more

Got a mucus retention cyst in sinus CT scan blocking sinus partially. What are the treatments to remove it or dissolve it?Suffering from post nasal dip
Not necessary to: Remove a mucous retention cyst is not necessarily the cause of your sinus problems. I take ct scans all day and we see a lot of mucous retention cysts with little correlation to symptoms. If you are going to have it out just know that your symptoms will probably not improve . Many university radiologists that read scans will advise against treatment because of the high reoccurrence rate ...Read more

Can post nasal drip result in mucus entering into lungs and accumulating there, or does it just go in stomach ?
Most to stomach: A little post nasal drip may try to enter the lungs & trigger a strong protective cough. If it went in with any volume you would have a significant pneumonia almost immediately. Most enters the esophagus/stomach & digestive pathway to be broken down over time. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
