Probably not: Cause of mucus in stool usually secondary to an inflammatory process such as colitis. This could also causes loose stools. Most Ca's are asymptomatic when small. As they get larger they obstruct , bleed and occasionally perforate. Colonoscopy can easily define problem. ...Read more

Cancer: I believe your problem is one of constipation as illustrated by your pellet like stools with occasional blood and mucus. Your constipation has probably led to your diverticulosis. a change to a high fiber consisting of fruits, vegetables, legume, beans, raisins, figs, dates, prunes and nuts plus high fiber cereals may be very helpful. Proctitis?: Cancer doesn't cause this sort of thing, and cancer is exceedingly unlikely at your age. Maybe an anal fissure or abscess. Perhaps proctitis (rectal inflammation) due to inflammatory bowel disease i.e. Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis. If sexually active involving your rectum, STDs (gonorrhea, chlamydia, herpes) are possible. All possibilities are potentially serious; see a doctor soon. ...Read more

At colonoscopy the growth might be able to be removed or might be judges too large to remove safely but pieces (biopsies) will be obtained to tell what it is.
