Refractory (years) mucus plug nasopharynx (ID by MD allergist)> productive (clear/brown BB size) "throat clearing." Saline spray ineffective.?
A challenge: It is not always obvious. The "mucus plug" is more a concept than an actual object. As the term cervix matures, softens and dilates, the mucus barrier will be excreted. This may appear as a thick wad of mucus with small amount of blood or if slowly lost, just an increase in vaginal discharge. Confirmation usually comes with a cervical exam showing effacement and dilation. ...Read more
See your doctor: It is hard to know whether or not it was really your mucous plug. Typically, you lose your mucous plug at the end of pregnancy, but it is not necessarily a sign of labor. It is a thick, sticky clear discharge. Remember, during pregnancy you may have more discharge than normal or you may have a yeast or bacterial infection. If you aren't cramping or bleeding, I wouldn't panic, but go see your ob! ...Read more

ASK YOUR OB: All? S like this should be directed to your OB! Since your OB will be delivering you, there is no set time could be 1or 2 days or 1- 3 or more weeks depending on how far along u are, my advice (since I have done over 5k deliveries) do not go past your due date, not worth it, and a recent study showed the ideal time for the baby to be delivered is 39-40 weeks, induction is safe and easy. ...Read more

Amniotic fluid?: You need to be seen and evaluated. It's possible that you ruptured your membranes and are leaking amniotic fluid. There are other possibilities but it's best to assume it's amniotic fluid until proved otherwise. You need to go to the Ob triage unit at your hospital this evening. Best wishes! ...Read more
Was 90% effaced now 80% still 3cm have been for 2 weeks. Any safe ways at home to help SPEED things up? Told no sex as lost mucous plug. HELP!!
Unfortunately no.: Unfortunately, there is no way to bring on labor by yourself. Eating spicy foods, walking, sex - none of this will help and could make you miserable. Labor happens when the baby is ready to be delivered. We don't know how, but we think a signal is sent from the baby's brain that says it's ready. ...Read more

Can an orgasm or multiple orgasms cause the mucous plug to fall? Also, can the orgasms cause my water to break sooner?
Not likely!: I suppose some might think the process of labor and the experience of sexual climax in women could be linked, but to the best of my knowledge, one takes place in the brain and the other occurs at the opposite pole... I certainly do not think that an orgasm, or multiple orgasms, present you with increased risk of premature labor. You may want to review this with a midwife or obstetrician... ...Read more
