Mucosal Thickening Ethmoid Air Cells
Brain MRI "there is mild polypoid mucosal thickening in ethmoid air cells."i have headaches, vision/hearing changes, tearing up, head pressure, sinuitis?
Possible: Mri is not a sensitive tool for sinusitis. Often, the sinuses are normal when one lights up on an mri. Your symptoms are not classic for a sinus infection, and MRI is better for looking for central nervous system problems as the cause of your headache. I would ask your doctor for an antibiotic good for sinusitis and follow up with a ct scan of the sinuses for the definitive answer. ...Read more
Ct results1mild mucosal thickening involving the ethmoid air cells and small mucous retention in the left maxillary sinus.2small concha bullosa bilaterally without ostiomeatal stenosis. Please explain?
Sinus CT: Concha bullosa are common anatomic variants of bones in the nasal cavity. When they are large, they can obstruct the sinus drainage pathway and predispose to sinusitis. When small, usually of no concern. Small mucus retention cysts and mild mucosal thickening may be related to mild chronic sinusitis. However, these mild findings may not even cause noticeable symptoms. ...Read more
Mucosal thickening in the right great than left maxillary & sphenoid sinuses with scattered mucosal disease in ethmoid air cells. What's this mean?
Maybe nothing: The fact that you have scattered mucosal thickening (not necessarily disease) in the sinuses does not necessarily equate to disease. Do you have yellow-green nasal discharge, post nasal discharge, pain or pressure in the face or top of the head? These are the major symptoms of rhino-sinusitis. In other words, are you feeling ill? Check with an ENT doctor. ...Read more
"There is mucosal thickening in the maxillary and ethmoid air cells as well as in the mastoids bilaterally" this was in my 2 1/2 year old sons MRI?
Mri showed sinusitis ethmoid air cells and mucosal thickening frontal as well as sphenoid sinuses. I been dealing with front headaches and eye pain.
MRI very sensitive: Just because you have something in the sinus, it does not mean it is the cause of your symptoms. Retention cysts are common. Does light or sound bother you when you have the headache? Do you have visual changes before the headache comes? If so you may have migraine allergies can also have these MRI findings. ...Read more
Had x ray on sinuses. Report says this. Minimal mucosal thicken of the frontal and ethmoid air calls. What does that mean. Should I see a ENT doc?
Mild sinus disease: Minimal mucosal thickening of paranasal sinuses is usually not a serious problem and a lot of people can have this finding. When total opacification and/or fluid levels in sinuses findings are more serious and may indicate infection. Thickening is usually related to allergies. ...Read more

Cat-scan sinuses- moderate mucosal thickening of sphenoid, ethmoid, L maxillary. Does sinusitis involve all these areas or is this a bad case?
Brain mri- moderate mucosal wall thickening involving bilateral maxillary and ethmoid sinuses & non specific demyelinating process. Possibly related?
Recent CT scan show mucosal thickening in ethmoid sinus. Have balloon sinuplasty scheduled, but curious....symptoms onset coincided with starting to use a Fitibit. Any possibility that they are related (i.e. medial nerve irritant)? Or coincidence?
Detective work: To decide whether or not facial sinus symptoms are related to getting a Fitbit or merely coincidental requires detective work. What changed in one's life after getting the Fitbit? If one started exercising with others, that would mean more exposures to potential upper respiratory infections. If one started walking or running outdoors, that means more exposures to airborne allergens and irritants. ...Read more
Headaches, nasal congestion, sinuses, facial numbness, vision problems. Did CT scan showed only mucosal thickening of bilateral sphenoid and ethmoid.
Chronic sinusitis: Chronic allergic rhino sinusitis can definitely be causing your symptoms. I would recommend a one month trial of daily antihistamines like Claritin (loratadine) or zyrtec and nightly sinus rinses. If your symptoms are not better I would see an ENT like me who specializes in nose/sinus surgery to discuss options. ...Read more
Between the eyes: The ethmoid sinuses are between the eyes and are commonly the result of viral and or bacterial infections starting in the nose. The answer to your question is the ethmoid sinuses are infected and the lining membrane is thickened. The only method to prove your diagnosis is with a cat scan of the sinuses. ...Read more
My CT say's, I've mild mucosal disease of the ethmoid sinuses. Most of the time I feel like I am not breathing. I forget to breath. What can I do
Many options: The ct is telling you there is mild inflammation of the ethmoid sinuses, but that has no effect on breathing. You breathe through your nasal passages, so a deviated septum, turbinate congestion, polyps, and other intranasal obstructions can affect breathing. Allergies certainly can contribute. Discuss this with an ENT specialist to see if there is some help for you with medication or surgery. ...Read more

My MRI shows severe mucoperiosteal thickening in the right ethmoid air cell. Could this be causing severe sinus headaches?
Had an MRI done everything normal mostly except mild ethmoid air cell and bilateral maxillary sinus thickening but don't get sinus headaches explain?
It's been 6 month that I always have a blocked nostril R or L.my CT reveals a thickening of one of my right posterior ethmoid air cell. What can I do?
Minor Musocal thickening within the left frontal sinus, the ethmoid air cells and right maxillary atrium found in MRI scan, have bad frontal headaches?
Mucosal thickening: What you are describing is completely normal with incidental finding of mucosal thickening on MRI. It is very common to see mild sinus mucosal thickening on MRI. It is not diagnostic of sinus infection or sinus obstruction. The cause of your headache is unlikely to be related to your sinuses. ...Read more
Can a Mucous Retention Cyst in the inferior aspect of the left max sinus cause unilateral ptosis? CT also shows thickening of several ethmoid air cell
No: No, very unlikely. Mucous retention cysts in the sinuses are very common. The ethmoid thickening is also unlikely to cause the issue. I would look for another reason for the ptosis. ...Read more
CT showed - mild thickening in the bilateral ethmoid air cells and right sphenoid sinus. No symptoms except mostly constant watery nose?
CT mild mucosal thickening of the posterior ethmoidal air cells, clear other scanned paranasal sinuses, patent both ostiomeatal units, intact bony boundaries. That means? I have random headaches
Seen in my MRI result is a 0.5 x 0.5 CM bright t2w signal focus is noted within a left ethmoid air cell. What is it, please?
See your doctor: This problem mandates a real-time (face-to-face) meeting with a doctor. A history has to be taken along with a examination as well as labs and other tests. Only after all this will your doctor be in a position to tell you what's wrong and what needs to be done to help you. ...Read more
Can a retention cyst in the max sinus. Amuse unilateral ptopsis? Moderate thickening of several of the ethmoid cells?? What does this all mean.
Possibly: Sounds as though you've had a study to evaluate this and so clearly the doctor who ordered the study should be answering your questions. Any of us would only be guessing on this small fragment of information. Good luck! ...Read more

Plz explain. Minimal to mild chronic appearing paranasal sinus inflammatory changes. Mildly increased ethmoid air cells. No acute sinusitis or osseous changes.
What diffuse disease of the ethmoid cells is agin noted without change probably related to the polyposis means?
Chronic sinusitis: I assume this refers to the radiologist's interpretation of a ct scan of the sinuses. The ethmoid sinuses are located between the eyes and diffuse disease refers to thickening of tissue within the entire sinus. The thickened tissue generally represents chronic sinus infection although polyps can also cause this. The radiologist sees masses in the nose that look like polyps. ...Read more
