Mucinous Carcinoma (Overview)

Mucinous carcinoma is a type of adenocarcinoma (a malignant tumor arising from glands) in which abundant mucin is present. Mucin is a protein produced by certain types of epithelial tissues. Mucinous carcinomas, also called colloid carcinomas, can be found in a variety of organs, including breast, lung, and colon. Depending on the organ, a mucinous carcinoma may have a different prognosis.

Has surgery been performed or just a biopsy?The staging studies will decide what your treatment and prognosis is going to be. Good question: This may or not be a cancer, but without changes in appearance in 2 1/2 yrs and not knowing your complete medical history I would suggest that you follow your physician's plan and to feel better emotionally ask him/her to refer you to an oncologist for a second opinion.
