Mucinex Dm Interaction With Coumadin
I just took mucinex DM with my Zoloft, looked up drug interactions for my propranolol and found out I just set myself up for SS, what should I do?
Bought some Mucinex dm today for cough and chest congestion. I also take 20mg of Lexapro (escitalopram). Drugs dot com says major interactions. Uhhhh? Can I take?
Ask pharmacist or Dr: This is very troubling indeed. And everything I've read supports what you found. Don't risk a potentially life-threatening interaction but do try to find an alternative to Lexapro (escitalopram) w/ your doctor. It's not the guaifenesin part, so you could take Mucinex pills and gargle w/ salt water for throat pain and drink honey-lemon-tea- (bit of bourbon). Sorry, but you actually may find this to work better! ...Read more
Not a problem: This will cause no harm. Continue your regular dose tomorrow. ...Read more
Maybe...: If a person had no problems taking Mucinex DM in the past, and she had no problems taking acetaminophen (Tylenol) in the past, then she should be fine this time taking both medications (because the two medications have different ingredients) either together or apart... as along as she is not taking too much of either medicine than she should take in one day. ...Read more
I took 100mg of Tramadol. If I was to take a Mucinex-DM tablet would there be any reaction or negative side effects?
Several things: Could happen. Both medications can be sedating so combining the two may make you drowsy. Also both can enhance serotonin effects in the body like agitation, fever, tremors, palpitations, muscle spasms, and skin flushing. You may want to review this with your physician if it a combo you feel like you'll needs for several days or more. ...Read more

Dextromethorphan has never been shown in studies to relieve any symptom of colds, flu, allergies, bronchitis or pneumonia, including cough, and can be dangerous in high doses.
If you have thick mucous, use PLAIN guafenesin (Mucinex). If you have nausea or a cough use PLAIN phenergan, or (for cough) phenergan + codeine or hydrocodone (but you will need an rx for phenergan + anything).
Likely ok: But don't do it again.Get a more detailed answer ›

Mucinex (guaifenesin) time scale: Mucinex (guaifenesin) DM is an every 12 hour medication with a dosing of 1-2 tablets every 12 hours. If your husband took only one tablet each time reported he remains in the acceptable total amount for a 24 hour period. If he took 2 or more tablets each time he is outside the normal 24 hour dose. A one time misuse is unlikely to cause harm. Continued misuse could be harmful and certainly not advised. ...Read more
I took 2 mucinex (guaifenesin) dm around 3 pm. I was going to bed and took another around 10:30pm and just took another around midnight. Should I be concerned?
No: Dextromethorphan is in the Codeine family, but unlike Codeine or hydrocodone (Vicodin) it isn't an active opioid and therefore available OTC without prescription and unregulated by DEA as a controlled substance (unclassed). Cough medicine with Codeine would require a prescription because of abuse potential. ...Read more
No: You should be fine. That is the max dosage recommended per day. I just wouldn't take any more today. ...Read more

It is not a good idea to take them together
nyquil is only night time medicine for cold and cough, it helps you sleep at night as it contains sedating antihistamines, dextromethorphan, acetaminophaen and alcohol and mucinexdm cntains dextromethorphan and guafenacin

Can I give my 10 year old son Mucinex (guaifenesin) fast max dm? It's adult strength and says children and adults over 12 can take 20 ml every 4 hours.
No: There have been studies that show that honey works significantly better than cough / cold preparations. They do not work.
