I have a very bad cough. I have a hard time breathing in without coughing. I was prescribed a Z-pack and Mucinex (guaifenesin) D for sinus infection. Bronchospasm?
See doc again: If you have a hard time breathing, you need to get checked again and hopefully get a lung function test or even a chest xray. On the other hand, trouble breathing in is more suggestive of obstruction at the upper airway and not the lung. Once we have the lung function and/or chest x-ray finding, we will have a better chance in pinning down the cause. Zpak may not work for sinusitis ...Read more

Hello I have a bad bad cold and I just took two tablets of mucinex sinus max, I am just wondering if I could take NyQuil in a few hours. It says on th?
Different: Mucinex D contains Guaifenesin 600mg (for cough) and Pseudoephedrine 60mg, while Mucinex Sinus Max Day has Guaifenesin 200mg, Phenylephrine 5mg, and Tylenol (acetaminophen) 325mg. I generally recommend Pseudoephedrine over Phenylephrine for nasal congestion so my personal preference would be Mucinex D. But if you have a fever or pain, Mucinex Sinus Max would be good if you don't want to take Tylenol (acetaminophen) separately. ...Read more
Probably not: I couldn't find the exact ingredients in mucinex (guaifenesin) sinus max but presume it does contain pseudoephedrine as well. When you take Allegra D, you are getting this ingredient as well and may end up with elevated BP, faster heart rate, and /or insomnia. If it does not contain a decongestant, it would be ok. ...Read more

I have a bad sinus infection took 2 suds fed at 4am n it is 8:30 am now want 2 now take my mucinex (guaifenesin) d instead is that ok thanks?
No: Sudafed and Mucinex (guaifenesin) D both have the same drug in them, so taking them both would may have you taking a higher dose than is healthy, especially if you have other conditions like high blood pressure. It wouldn’t be the best idea. The best bet, in future, is to look at the ingredient list on the backs of the boxes as a first step and make sure they do not have the same drug in them. (In this case, th ...Read more
I've taken 3 doses of mucinex (guaifenesin) sinus max severe congestion relief today I'm over due for my next dose. Can I take Claritin -D instead now?
Yes: A good idea for self-medicating cold/sinus symptoms is to list your symptoms and present the list to the pharmacist who can guide you through the litany of options. If self-medication fails to improve symptoms or they worsen, best to consult a physician. That said, if you are otherwise healthy (and have no serious heart or blood pressure related condition) can now take the claritin-D. ...Read more

I have been experiencing head congestion and very muggy for months now. Can this be a severe sinus issue? Allergy d is not working is Mucinex (guaifenesin) better?
Can you take a decongestant when taking prednisone 20mg (2perday for 5days) like mucinex: d? I was prescribed prednisone for sinus infection
Preferably not: Mucinex (guaifenesin) d contains Guaifenesin Pseudoephedrine 120mg which can raise blood pressure, make you jittery, "hyper" and cause heartburn and constipation. Prednisone 40 mg may worsen the side effects, like high blood pressure, thyroid problem or diabetes. You should rinse y our nose with saline and use a nasal decongestant like oxymetazoline (afrin) for 5 days. Guaifenesin may help (mucinex (guaifenesin) without d). ...Read more

I took mucinex (guaifenesin) sinus max at 3:30pm n wondering if I can have a full glass of wine at 4:19am?
Mixing meds and wine: That medicine contains acetaminophen (pain/fever reducer), guaifenesin (loosens the mucus in your chest), and phenylephrine (stimulant to open up sinuses). More than 12 hrs after taking it, most of those ingredients will be worn off and shouldn't have any interaction with a glass of wine. You should be fine. Hope you feel better soon. ...Read more
