I used Mucinex (guaifenesin) nasal spray (in my nose) to releave pressure pain in my ears. Now my ears feel stopped up, and still hurt.

Stop it: Mucinex (guaifenesin) nasal spray can cause worsening of nasal congestion if used excessively and can have you completely blocked up. Stop using it and start using a saline nasal spray. Over the counter decongestants can alleviate your ear congestion. If no change, see an allergist.

Is there anything besides Mucinex (guaifenesin) on the market that works as an expectorant? I have asthma - mucus is major issue for me. I take Mucinex (guaifenesin) twice a day

Oral Diphyl-G: Thick mucus has been a real problem for my patients with asthma. Mucus thinning medications such as Guaifenesin present in Mucinex (guaifenesin) and robutussin has been very beneficial. One other item which I prescribe to patients is a mixture of Dyphylline and Guaifenesin (difil-g) which I find very useful to bring the secretion up because of additional dilating effect on airway. Please consult your doctor.

Can you od on mucinex (guaifenesin)?

No, and why are you: Asking? If you are trying to OD, you need to contact your doctor immediately, call a suicide hotline and get help. Mucinex (guaifenesin) itself is just guanifenisin, which doesn't really have any toxicity even in high doses. However, there are versions of the medication that have antihistamines, decongestants and dextromethorphan, and all of these in higher doses can cause problems, although rarely serious.

Has Mucinex (guaifenesin) shown any testosterone lowering as a side effect.?

Has Mucinex (guaifenesin) shown any testosterone lowering as a side effect.?

Very Doubtful: The only possible correlation with testosterone would be through dehydration and coincidental liver disease. An on-line study showed no reports of elevated sex hormone binding globulin (linked to testosterone levels) and mucinex (guaifenesin). If you had a hypersensitvity reaction that involved the liver testosterone could go down.
