Mri X Ray Cancer
Cancer is a group of diseases that is characterized by uncontrolled cell growth leading to invasion of surrounding tissues that spread to other parts of the body. Cancer can begin anywhere in the body and is usually related to one or more genetic mutations that allow normal cells to become malignant by interfering with internal cellular control mechanisms, such as programmed cell death or by preventing ...Read more
I had MRI of throastic in june and in august chest x ray. Mid upper back still hurting. Could they of missed cancer?
Possibly: Mri and chest x-rays are not 100% sensitive. It's possible that the MRI could have missed cancer. If your symptoms are not resolving in spite of medical therapy, then you should look into getting re-evaluated. I think cancer would be low on the list at your age, but certainly not unheard of. The pain is telling you something, so be sure to get a solid diagnosis. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

I am a 29 year old female and have been a smoker for 7 years. I have mid back pain near spine for months. I have had chest X-ray and 2 mri's, both clear. I am still scared itslung cancer. What should I do?
consider chest CT: You need to talk to your doctor about ways to stop smoking, which is a known cause of lung cancer. That's the 1st thing you need to do. A negative chest x-ray does not mean your lungs are free of disease. Assuming the mris were of your spine, consider an optimized screening chest ct to determine the status of your lungs and reduce your anxiety. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Can MRI & X-ray miss sarcoma(both say normal)? 1-2cm bump near subcutaneous vessels in arm, they're normal on MRI. Can it still be cancer? next step?
Scanner and techniqu: Cancer is a microscopic diagnosis. BUMP is a clinical observation. MRI should characterize the size, shape, margin, blood flow and invasion of the surroundings to help the Radiologists to suspect benign versus aggressive BUMP. The aggressive can mean cancer or acute infection. Good luck on your biopsy if it looked aggressive. Depending on the MRI scanner and tetechniques you can identify 3mm. ...Read more
Should I worry about cancer if I had a single head ct scan 8 years ago, kidney Xray 5 years ago, spine Xray and mri 1year ago chest X-ray 1 month ago
No.: These diagnostic procedures will not measurably increase your risk of cancer over your background or natural risk. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex, if you have sex. ...Read more

In the last year had lots of mri, cat scan, xray ultrasounds of my chest & stomach & my head & knee how much of a risk do I have from getting cancer?
Minimal: First, MRI and ultrasound do not increase risk of cancer. These do not involve exposure to any radiation. CT imaging and to a lesser extent plain x-rays carry a very small risk, which might become significant to an individual if tests are repeated frequently over many years. It is estimated that a single CT of the abdomen might increase cancer risk by 0.05%. ...Read more
I have had chest xray and throastic spine MRI with no contrast. I have this back pain in my upper back that comes and goes. If I had lung cancer would they have saw anything?
NO: To assess lungs for masses, cancerous or not, need cat scan thorax. Chest xray will consistently miss small potentially curable tumors depending on location in lungs , size and density.Mri of the spine has a limited view of parts of the lungs and you can not rule out the presence of a lung lesion with an MRI of the spine and a chest xray. Mri of the thoracic spine is not used to find lung nodules. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Mri or magnetic resonance imaging is one of the more recently developed imaging modalities available to physicians. It uses powerful magnets to generate images. There is no ionizing radiation which is a major advantage over many other modalities. Mri is the best imaging exam that we have for most soft tissue and joint related problems. There are radiologists ...Read more
