Can Ovarian serous cystadenocarcinoma cyst resemble functional cyst on MRI?

Can Ovarian serous cystadenocarcinoma cyst resemble functional cyst on MRI?

No: A simple cyst has a very specific benign appearance, while a cystadenocarcinoma usually has characteristics that are pathognomonic for a complex mass. A benign hemorrhagic cyst may resemble a worrisome cystadenoca. If you are worried about an ovarian cyst, talk to your doctor. You can do an ultrasound in 4-6 weeks. If it is a cancer, it will not be the same size or have the same characteristics. ...Read more

Ct scan showed free fluid from ruptured ovarian cyst follow up ultras showed pelvic fluild dr said no there was not a ruptured cyst how can they tell?

Cyst rupture or not?: The free fluid could be from a ruptured ovarian cyst, or it could just be physiological free fluid. Did you have severe pelvic pain that seemed to get better with time? If so, a ruptured cyst is more likely. ...Read more

Ultrasound says complex ovarian cyst, septated, internal echos and avascular. Says could be possible haemorrhagic cyst but i'm worried of cancer?

Follow-up required: In a patient of your age, it is likely self-limited and very well could represent a hemorrhagic cyst. However, a repeat ultrasound 6 weeks following the first is suggested to document resolution or decrease in size and to re-evaluate for patency of the ovarian artery. ...Read more

MRI shows 4.8cm ovarianRight complex cyst, coccyx bone erosion, free fluid in pelvic area & simple ovarianLeft cysts. Should I request ca125 testing?

Maybe: I think it would be best to get the opinion of a gyn oncologist about this. While age 23 would be very unusual to have cancer, these gyn specialists would still be a good source of information. Hope this helps! ...Read more

CT scan shows I have a cystic teratoma/dermoid cyst with an additional 3.5 cm rounded fluid attenuation mass within R pelvis abutting the above mass.

Sorry to hear it. Q?: I'm sorry to hear the scan report. It seems like you could use some support in making sense of all this. Most importantly, do you have symptoms? I don't see a question posed, so please specify what is worrying you about the CT scan report. A teratoma is a (usually) benign tumor or growth. Fluid around the teratoma ("abutting the mass") is not unusual, & could also be b9. TTYD or use HealthTap Pr ...Read more

Can a CT show difference between ovarian cyst and ovarian cancer?

Depends.: A cystic ovarian lesion can be a benign cyst or a cystic neoplasm. Even a benign cyst can be difficult to diagnose on ct if it has blood (hemorrhagic) or debris inside it. A ct may not be able to discern a hemorrhagic cyst from a solid tumor. A cyst with a growth along its wall may be suspicious. An ultrasound may be useful. Short term follow may tell if the cyst resolve/improve. ...Read more

Can a cystic tumour be cancerous? 27cm septated ovarian cyst. Thanks

Can a cystic tumour be cancerous? 27cm septated ovarian cyst. Thanks

Yes: It can. It would be helpful to know your age and history to comment further. Septated cysts are also a malignancy risk but there are septated benign tumors too. Do you mean 27 cm or 27 mm? The smaller one 27 mm is fairly low risk regardless; if you mean the larger (27 cm) the risk is correspondingly higher. I hope this helps, good wishes. ...Read more

Might dermoid cyst be confused with corpus luteum on ultrasound?

Might dermoid cyst be confused with corpus luteum on ultrasound?

Not likely: Dermoid cysts have very interesting imaging characteristics based on their content of fat, hair, and frequently bone or teeth, corpus luteum cysts are much more routine and are cystic with surrounding hypervascularity. They may sometimes bleed and contain blood. They also tend to resolve after the period or later in pregnancy. ...Read more
